TPM: Ex-Staffer For Kennedy Charged With Stealing $75,000 From Senate
ormer Ted Kennedy office manager Ngozi Pole has been charged with stealing $75,000 by submitting false salary paperwork to the Senate Disbursing Office, the Justice Department announced this afternoon.

Between 2003 and 2007, Pole, who is being charged with theft of government property and five wire fraud counts, allegedly received bonus and salary payments that had not been authorized by Kennedy or his chief of staff.

After submitting the paperwork for the inflated payments, Pole allegedly gave the chief of staff different figures -- for example, reporting a $5,000 bonus in 2004 when Pole actually received over $26,000.

The indictment, filed in U.S. District Court in Washington, does not say how Pole spent the allegedly stolen money.
