You know there was also some good news today, too. In DC, gay marriage was voted in by City Council.
The history of the Democratic congress has been to ratify the decisions taken by the City Council. This bodes well for all citizens.

Yes, I wish DC had full statehood and the *right* to self determination, but given the status quo, this is as good as we can hope for.

4. The local nooztalkers are cautiously optimistic
As I said in the OP, this Dem congress has been thus far inclined to ratify unchallenged the DC Council's decisions.

That's no guarantee, but it is looking more good than not. And the StupidPak group isn't all that big.

5. Yep. Wonderful news; I'd posted it earlier.
Now let's hope that this corrupted Congress will somehow pass this legislation for a basic civil right.
