Joe Lieberman says in effect he will kill anything that liberals like. True or not, that's a stated motive.
In my blazing contempt and anger at Lieberman, I don't want to jump by the same criteria. I don't want to kill any bill just because what's left is what Joe likes. I'm also not sold on the fact that Lieberman isn't also fronting for other Dems too.
I want to know what is really in the bill. I don't want vague assurances. For example, I want to know EXACTLY what the terms are for pre-existing conditions. When does it start? How does it work? What 'loopholes' are there?
How EXACTLY will the bill that is brought forth help people? What will the cost be to us?
Once I have a better idea about all the parameters, I will make up my mind. I'm through jumping until it comes out in the wash.
DeMint said this would be Obama's Waterloo. Well, it might be the Democratic Party's too. It didn't have to come down to this do or die moment. However, through a concerted Rethug effort, and a complete Keystone Cop method by the Dems in Congress, we have arrived at this point.
With superior forces and momentum, the high ground was ceded until the Dems could find a better place to make everybody comfortable. The only place that would work so that everybody could spread out was on flat ground. It's not a very good position to win a battle from however.
Did any of these mucks ever read Sun Tzu? It applies just as much in politics. Apparently, the only book anybody read was 'Harry Hears a Who?'
