The Senate is Lucy, HCR is the football
Edited on Wed Dec-16-09 08:44 AM by edhopper
and Obama is Charlie Brown, the well intentioned, but hapless character who thinks they won't pull it away this time.

Or maybe the Democrats are Charlie Brown and Lieberman is Lucy.

There's an analogy here somewhere.

3. I would say that the American people are Ned Beatty
And the Senate is that mountain dweller in Deliverance.

5. The GOP is Lucy
Zero votes from the right is what's killing HCR. And they just sit back and laugh when they can force dems to break ranks.

To quote ole H. Ross Perot, "Use your whole brain." on this issue. The republicans are marginalized from passing anything, so they are resigned to blocking everything they can...and that's exactly what they are doing. They can only be spoilers.

A couple of more seats in the Senate and we are where we need to be. We need to push, and push hard, this next election to gain a couple of more seats. Don't give up now!

7. They have 40 votes
The cannot stop a single bill.

If you think the Dems will pick up any seats next time with this behavior, you are gravely mistaken.
This is their best chance and they have blown it.

8. You are right
They do have only 40 votes, and the dems only have 56 on this issue, as it stands. It takes sixty. You have fallen right into the GOP trap! You are doing exactly what they want. It's okay to be pissed, just don't be ignorant.

9. 56 is still a majority
why do only the Dems need 60 votes to pass things, the Repugs didn't.
It's not the GOP, it's the gutless Dem leadership.

10. So? Having less votes is better?
I totally understand your disappointment....believe me. I have moved passed that to getting angry enough to take the repukes totally out of the equation, as well as the blue dog traitors. Two more senate seats in our favor will do that! We've come so far to give up now. And, we can hope the dems will get enough backbone to kick Reid out of leadership next time.

11. Not if the two more seats are
blue dog dems who will stand in the way of reform.
Then what. Do you think we can get a 70 seat majority?
Now is the time and what I see is failure.
