How about a constitutional amendment for term limits?
I am so ready to cut these guys down to a maximum of 4 terms in the House and 2 in the Senate. Institutional memory serves no purpose except to teach corruption. If you can't accomplish something reasonable for the people you represent within a 12 year period of time, then you need to go home.

1. We already have term limits.

They're called elections.

Why would you want to create a broad restriction that applies to everyone to correct a localized problem? If you want to combat corruption, go after the corruption -- which involves fixing our campaign finance laws. Requiring the teaching of civics in school and re-introducing tougher media ownership rules would also help.

Remember, for every corrupt asshole who gets term limited out of office, you also lose good people whose influence and seniority should be valued, not penalized -- e.g., Teddy Kennedy.
