6. There wasn't a vote, but an objection to the motion to wave the reading.
I think it's a procedural thing that dems couldn't do anything about.

3. Harry Reid just keep the Senate in session thru Christmas and let Coburn read the bill.
Get tough with them.

10. perfect suggestion - keep ALL in session thru holiday and coburn won't object anymore!!!
I also think dems should try to get filibusters back to the way they used to be where someone would have to talk continually. They want to punish dems, then let's make sure they suffer, too.

5. If I were Reid, I would put the Senate on notice that Christmas vacations are cancelled
until everything related to health care reform is done.

Period. The Senate works evenings, weekends, and through the holiday if necessary. Put some pressure on asshole Coburn. He's "my" Senator (I have no representation in Congress) and I will call his office to complain. (It will do no good, I'm sure when they hear my name they roll their eyes and stop writing.)

23. Too damn ironic
From what I'm reading here (can't watch right now), Coburn is forcing the reading of Sander's Single Payer amendment in an effort to stall proceedings.

So, the reading of a genuine and decent amendment, one which reflects the actual direction this whole thing should have gone in from the beginning, is being used by the Republicans to hold up the vote on the compromised and deeply flawed bill.

Am I getting this right?
