Just put 2+2 together and I want Abu Gonzo to STAY PUT!

Seems like last week there was more than one raid of congressfiends who are apparently going to busted after all the "truth is known". All goes back to the Dukester and fake contracts or sweetheart land deals, etc. So it occurs to me, why now? And I believe I have the answer. Although there are plenty of loyal bushies embedded in the DOJ, there are probably still a few decent attorneys. They want to do the right thing and now they are off the leash because Gonzo is toast. I say keep the slimeball in office for the rest of chimpy's term, he's useless, emasculated and the DOJ can actually carry out the duties they have wanted to for years.

1. I agree with you....
Edited on Sat Apr-21-07 08:20 PM by hwmnbn
There may be a mutiny in the DOJ. We know who the loyal bushies are, they can still mess with the administrative functions, but they are like the boss's kid who nobody listens to.

I'm thinking (hoping) there'll be a backlash against these Regent University fundie fucks calling the shots.

That is our only hope, really, that there are still conscientious folks in the DOJ upholding the constitution and the rule of law instead of the repug dictates.

4. Disagree
He's not running the show anyway. Pretty plain that Rove is. If Gonzalez stays so does the charade of him running things. Dems may think he is "controlled" while KKKKarl is actually cintinuing the dirty work.
Gonzalez needs to go and the whole operation needs to be investigated.

7. But if Gonzales stays, the DOJ scandal stays in the news
possibly unearthing more scandals

11. I think if he stays it is another one that will be buried.
No I think new AG nominee will shine more light.
I think you get your wish, because I doubt Chimpy will fire Abu and Abu won't quit and there's no one around to make them do anything.

16. These investigations have a life of their own
I think that any Gonzo replacement would be very hard pressed to derail any ongoing or pending investigations. Some pretty bright spotlights will be trained on the DOJ for the rest of this administration. Prosecutorial independence will be the catchphrase of the day. Not only that, but this congress is very unlikely to confirm another unqualified political hack as AG. Everyone's paying attention now.

9. How about the fact that KKKarl's ops are also constricted
because his communcatins are now a matter of interest. He can't freely command his minions as effectively as he was able to a year ago.

17. With all due respect - BULLSHIT!
Rove and his minions will just find another way to circumvent the law (buy a new computer under someone else's name, set up an account and bingo - he's back in business).

They aren't done yet with us folks and we all know it.

It's just another scandal every week and I for one am getting damn tired of it and I am damn tired of the Congress WE elected last year just tossing papers and hearings - toss someone's ass in jail and really get their attention.

This mealy mouth tip toe thru the tulips crap is wearing real thin with me lately. I am sick and tired on turning on the news and hearing about another scandal and some whack job religious crackpot Robertson college graduate saying they can't remember 167 times or they can't recall 80 some times.

Know what? I can't remember either - I can't remember when I last 'respected' this lame excuse for a pResident, I can't remember when I last turned on the tv and didn't hear about a scandal, I can't remember when Congress actually did their job.....nope I can' recall either. Must be the kookaid.

6. Great point. It won't help to get rid of Gonzo and let the Neocons replace
him with someone more effective for them. If he stays he would be a toothless embarrassment to the other side.

10. That's a good reason
Here's another.

Gonzo has been shown to be a liar, a partisan toady and a witless wonder.

Even some Repubs have called for his resignation.

How could he be considered anything LESS than a liability to the Bush regime?

The longer he stays, the worse it looks for Chimpolini.

a chief executive would have dropped the boob like a hot rock quite a while ago. We are SOOO in neverland. Or Behind the Looking Glass...

no question Gonzo has dirt on bush. How many more DUI's were there? Any accidents? A Chappaquidick?
Only the Shadow knows...

14. Oh, I would like to drag this one out for a few more weeks
and I have a great deal of faith that the useless WH folks will dig in their heels for a bit. But after that, I want Abu taken out with the utmost humiliation. I want it spread far and wide that he failed and that he one of many poster children for this failed administration.

12. Disagree - more important principles at stake
Our children will look back on this era and judge us all on the basis of our response to this criminal administration. We must remove this bastard - and all the rest - as a matter of principle. I strongly believe this is more important than any short-term political gain; and even more important than scrubbing the scum from under the congressional rocks.

21. SO YOU ARE SAYING..LEAVE AN INCOMPETANT BOOB RUNNING OUR
justice..who isn't really running anything.let them continue to steal our elections by destroying our justice dept...and leave them there for political reasons..

and that is ok with you??

thats like saying ..

leave the bank robber ( who the cops have under custody ) .. alone....so we can say.. crime is at an all time high and bad ..for political reasons..because it makes one side strong politically...

nope..i want that fucker gone..

i want him held accountable and anyone who tried to destroy our judicial system held accountable..now..today..

its called "rule of law"..

right vs wrong

that is what defines a citizenship

that is what defines a nation of laws..

that is what defines ..a democracy and republic.

just my 2 cents..

22. It would be great if it works out that way!
He should have already left... WHY would they want him to stay?

Speculation:
If he stays, the spotlight stays on him (instead of moving onto the next criminal bozo). Or, as more illegal unethical plots become known--he still is the one taking the "hit" for all the shit. They want to keep him in place to remain the primary target, and soak up as much of the blame as possible. Also, each new story that comes up will be less than the one before. We already know about stupid Gonzo... nothing new to see here. We'll have "Gonzo-fatigue".

Same with Wolfie. WHY are these guys STILL in their positions?????

This is another level of hubris and arrogance (for these guys to refuse to resign). Or,it may be a new technique in controlling the public perception of widespread scandal and minimizing the damage.

"Controlling the public perception" is the number one priority.

23. The Senate would have to approve his replacement -- that's a BIG factor.
If Bu**sh** can't find someone trustworthy and competent to nominate (:eyes: there's a wasted "if") the Senators can make their own preferences clear, and turn down any nominee that fails to meet their standards. Either Bu**sh** nominates someone whom the Senate believes will actually do the job, or he leave the top chair in the Justice Dept. vacant, which makes him look like an even bigger fool with each passing day.

Dick Thornburgh is 74, and apparently still active -- think he could get drafted for AG?
