The Bill is not going to die: HCR
It will get passed, it has to. The government will go bankrupt faster if something doesn't happen to control the feds health care costs.

The bankrupt provision is the only reason the bill has gotten as far as it has.

It has to pass and that's why the WH is hammering Dean. Lieberman knows the score and he's just trying to make the bill as weak as possible before it passes.

Remember, the pubbies are all against the bill because they don't care if the federal budget goes bust. Bush has them all set for life. Its the poor fucks like us that will take the hit, so, for your own good, don't do what the pubbies want done.

Help get this HCR bill passed.

5. Well
Obama has said from the earliest that the fed health care bill was gonna take over the whole federal budget. And he was just the latest in a long line saying that. Again, tonight, he said it on ABC news.

I don't know the particulars, but I do know the pubbies are dead set against HCR and this bill, so being as I don't know everything, but I do know those two things: long line and pubbies, I gotta go with Obama on this one.

Fucking Bullshit. He just gave 38 billion in tax breaks to CitiGroup. Tell him to ask them for the fucking money.

11. Well
It has been said many, many times that the current obligations of the federal government will bankrupt the budget in the near future.

That is the republican's wet dream, because they want Medicare to die.

This bill would have never gotten anywhere without that understanding and the pubbies 100% against should give anyone of us grave concerns.

It has to pass. HCR has to begin sometime, and than that sometime is now. Sure, Obama is screwing this up, what did you expect? But the fact that 98% of the dems are for HCR, now, is good enough for me to know what's what.

and the democratic party is trying to save their collective asses from the swamp he led them into.

16. Maybe
But you know the republicans are sitting back laughing their asses off at us as we struggle to make something happen. They don't want HCR. They want the budget to bust, they've been saying it for years.

Obama is not the first to tell us about the budget busting. Shoot, Social Security is going bust, too.

What, do you just want to sit back and let it all go to hell? 98% of the dems are working to get this bill passed. Even Lieberman was for it before he was against it. That has to mean something. To me it makes all the difference.

17. They want to be back in power
They don't give a fuck about anything else, just like most democratic politicians don't give a fuck about anything else.

Everything is about keeping power.

Here is what I know, mandated insurance is slavery to taxation to a 3rd party I cannot vote for. I'm not willing to make that sacrifice to save a couple of assholes political careers.

So, the next go round we get rid of mandates. You should know by now that pretty much everything is fungible except Medicare and the DoD budgets.

12. Control costs?
Shoot, I don't know how they plan on controlling any of the costs of the feds obligations except to tax the rich. And I heard that was in the House bill.

Guessing that by insuring everyone the burden of the costs get spread out.

Now, not being privvy to all the bill's details, but knowing that Lieberman is against it, makes me feel pretty comfortable being for it.

18. Control?
It is all out of control and there is no telling where it will end up.

Thing is that there are people who HCR will help. Medicare is not free. But there are millions of people who get Medicare benefits.

If we go back to the opening salvos in the HCR proposals and eventually get around to making those proposals stick, then it will control the costs.

Oh, BTW, hell yeah, end the DoD budget excesses, I've been preaching that on DU the whole time. Got very little support, tho.

24. You are handing me the Bush shit
when you make comments like ';we will go bankrupt;
thats Bush PR right out of his playbook. scare tactics.

no, we will go bankrupt because we are escalating wars and paying off insurance companies with money from US citizens who cannot afford it.

and when US citizens are forced to use 17 percent of their income to be FORCED to buy health insurance, they will themselves go bankrupt.

the US govt always finds money for their wars never for their citizens.

27. Shit
We are bankrupt.

But the Medicare budget is slated to grow until it consumes every fed dollar. If you can't grok that simple truth, well, have fun blaming me.

The whole damn system is bankrupt. And I hate to see that we are in the position we are in. But getting some HCR now, finally, after all these years of pubbie opposition, simply has to improve the lives and health care for millions of people.

Bush was against HCR. His party is against HCR. I am for HCR. See the difference?

Next year, when the smoke clears, I will probably tell them to take their mandate and stuff it. All the bad stuff in the bill will be vetted and the complaints will come and maybe, just maybe, for like the first time, people may rise up and make them afraid of us. Maybe, but I'll not hold my breath.

In the meantime, HCR is gonna help millions of poor folks. Lets get it done.

22. Remember that Liberals/Progressives are against this bill for FAR FAR
different reasons than the GOP opposes it. In fact, it is highly probable that the GOP LOVES this bill in it's current incarnation, but they have no need to vote for it and be labeled as supporting Obama's policies by the intellectually challenged teabaggers and rightards. Rather, they can just sit back and let the Dems do "their" anti-populist dirty work for them.

29. Basically
The house bill is the only set bill. The senate bill is still being made.

AFAICT the house bill, passed by a large margin of dems, will help millions of people who don't have HCR now.

30. you are twisting yourself into a pretzel.
As a matter of fact, watch this video and explain to me how Barack Obama can defend his deal with big Phrma and how can you defend Obama after watching it?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7faOimK5x0

Afterall, he says the reason medicare is in so much trouble is because of the cost of prescription drugs then he turns around and keeps the same deal bush had with them???

Give me a break!

The only reasons republicans are against this bill is to keep a public option or anything like that out of the bill. Everything else is AOK with them. You don't hear them complaining about the mandate without a public option, do you??

31. Hardly
My support for Obama is tanking, rapidly.

But the facts are the facts. If you go back to the house bill there is a great deal of good in it and that is the bill I do have support for. Being as the senate bill is still being worked out and we don't know what it will entail exactly, all I can say is wait and see.

But we will get some HCR, and we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that HCR will help many people. And like the first Medicare, SS, and Civil Rights bills that came out, this bill will improve with age.

We never were going to get a radical reform this time, but we will get reform making some progress, and that is the real reason it has any support.

Making some progress. Get on board.

34. provision
May not be the right word as there surely is no 'provision' in the bill, but the bankrupt idea has always been a driving force for a bill.
