Schumer - what an arrogant asshole
Edited on Thu Dec-17-09 06:27 AM by katkat
Worth reading through to his even more brainless comment at the end -

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/17/nyregion/17schumer.html

"Mr. Schumer and his fellow Democratic senator from New York, Kirsten E. Gillibrand, were seated next to each other on the New York-to-Washington flight on Sunday, and both were talking on their cellphones, according to Politico.com, which first reported the incident. After an announcement that cellphones must be turned off, both senators initially kept talking on their phones.

Ms. Gillibrand ended her call, but Mr. Schumer kept talking.

The flight attendant then approached Mr. Schumer and told him the entire plane was waiting for him to shut off his phone. Mr. Schumer ended the call, but then argued that he was entitled to keep his phone on until the cabin door closed.

When the flight attendant, whom Politico did not identify, walked away Mr. Schumer turned to Ms. Gillibrand and described the attendant as a “bitch.”...

“The senator made an off-the-cuff comment under his breath that he shouldn’t have made, and he regrets it,” said Brian Fallon, a Schumer spokesman.

1. That's why pencils have erasers.
Everyone makes mindless mistakes. Schumer is a top-notch Democrat all the way. And Gillibrand in 2010!

4. Ah, as long as he use the b word, and it was just to a woman
no problem. Just an illustrious Senator keeping the little woman (and everyone else on the plane waiting for him to hang up so the plane could leave) in her place.

9. If he had muttered "dick" in reference to a male flight attendant, I still wouldn't care.
Not turning off his phone was the issue here, not the offhand comment to another Senator.

Oh they do throw in one every once in a while but when they do it is for some nefarious reason you can bet on that.

5. Confirmed by Schumer's office, Politico haters
“The senator made an off-the-cuff comment under his breath that he shouldn’t have made, and he regrets it,” said Brian Fallon, a Schumer spokesman.

6. One big fat difference: politico is carrying the gop's water. Schumer
had already apologized yet the gop again is trying to make mountains out of molehills. Very typical.

This didn’t take long: The GOP is going after not only Chuck Schumer but his protege Kirsten Gillibrand over the now-famous Sunday incident in which Schumer referred to a US Airways flight attendant as a “bitch” when she told him to turn off his cell phone.

Schumer has already apologized. Republican Senate Campaign Communications Director Brian Walsh is now taking Gillibrand to task for failing to condemn her fellow Democratic senator for the presumably sexist remark.

No need to carry water. Schumer's actions say it all.

I'm sure you're just thrilled when some guy calls you a bitch. And when he apologizes (only because someone caught him at it who can do damage) that makes it all okay.
