Dean: I Won’t “Vigorously” Support Obama’s Re-election
Source: The Raw Story

WASHINGTON -- Escalating his opposition to what remains of the health care legislation, former Gov. Howard Dean has taken more swipes at President Obama, after a contentious back-and-forth that led to Press Secretary Robert Gibbs publicly sniping at him on Wednesday.

Dean, who outspokenly championed the public option and also supported the Medicare buy-in, said Thursday on MSNBC's Morning Joe that he won't "vigorously" support Obama's re-election in 2012.

"I'm going to support President Obama when he runs for re-election," Dean, also a former DNC Chair, said. "Not vigorously. I'm going to vote for him."

Take that as an insult if you want.

22. Your are suffering from all the symptoms of modern US partisanship.
When people are no longer able to recognize that every issue in politics has at least two worthy sides, then we are destined for political gridlock. Obama, Kerry, Reid, Pelosi all get it. Kucinich, Dean, Lieberman, Boehner, Bush, Cheney et al. don't get it.

It's an illness that needs a cure if we ever expect progress on important issues.

29. We'll never get progress if we don't work for it.
This bill does nothing to curtail escalating costs.

It is worse than nothing.

(Why don't you compare Dean to HITLER while you're at it.)

Then I get to compare Reid to Chamberlain.

Try none.

Using your crazed logic, this sentence would be comparing Jimmy Carter to Stalin: "World leaders of the 20th century would include Jimmy Carter, Joseph Stalin, and Winston Churchill."

Get a grip.

Keep in mind that some people think incarceration is torture, or giving a child a 1 minute "time out" is torture. There are dozens of sides of that issue, and all are credible to those who think.

4. I know he's disappointed but....
to predict whether you will "vigorously" support someone less than a year into a 4 year term is kind of jumping the gun a bit.

It would be more rational to judge him over a full term in office and everything else he does before proclaiming that you won't "vigorously" support someone.

But then again, being rational has been thrown out the window around here.

And I'm not saying Dean doesn't have a reason to be upset.

9. Hillary is not a choice versus Obama. They run with the same crowd and support the same things.
It would be no different in this HC Debate right now with Hillary in charge. The New Democrat/DLC/Blue Dog crowd needs to be taken on directly.

I am willing to bet that the next 3 years of Obama's run will be just as disappointing... and maybe that will be the tipping point to convince Howard Dean to primary Obama.

28. No, she is not...
Hillary had a very clear horizon about hc... if she had been the potus she would have moved the matter strongly before Teddy passed. She is very smart. I believed and believe in her...Maybe Obama is too inexperienced like so many said... maybe he thinks the repugs are going to support him... maybe he lost his bearings in the wh... maybe, maybe... the truth is that we are in a very negative situation and "we the people" are the worst for it... (Deep profound sigh!!!) I wish he would realize the truth of the situation...

The Clintons are knee deep in the DLC mess. They helped create all of this. Rahm's their guy. And Hillary has taken a ton of cash from the HC industry.

She would be no different.

Remember Joe Lieberman was Obama’s Mentor in the Senate

By: fflambeau Monday December 14, 2009 10:05 pm

Those who are up in arms over Sen. Joe Lieberman’s "veto" of the extension of Medicare should remember this. When Sen. Barack Obama arrived in Washington, D.C. in 2005, he selected as his mentor none other than: Joe Lieberman.

Here’s David Sirota writing about this, after discussing Obama’s stab in the back of the progressive Lamont in Connecticut and his stab in the back of the progressive Christine Cegelis (Obama backed Duckworth) way back in 2006:

Other sources, including the Hartford Courant, reported that Obama chose Lieberman as his mentor.]

34. Hillary is Lieberman in a skirt - she stayed on same page as Joe throughout her senate term.
She just didn't draw attention to it, letting him take all the heat while she and Bill gloried in the PERCEPTION they were the leaders of the Dem opposition (when they never really opposed Bush publicly)and talking out of both sides of their mouths, depending on the audience.

51. Obama had more differences with Lieberman than Hillary did. Obama was certainly no liberal icon
as senator, candidate or as president now, but, it's plain old ABSURD for anyone to try and pretend that Hillary would perform stronger as a leader for ANY Democratic issue. She and Bill rolled over and played dead on healthcare after the first hitback. They never resurrected it again, even in pieces - Kennedy and Kerry initiated the SCHP bill.

52. Why should Dean support Obama at this point?
As DNC chair, Dean got the majorities in congress that Obama now enjoys and is pissing away. Dean worked his butt off to get the Democrats to where they are and what did Obama do to thank him? Shut him out of the administration and attack him for telling the truth about this sham Health Care Reform.

I hope Dean goes one step further and forces a primary with Obama in 2012. He will have my full support.
