My mind keeps coming back to this Bill Hicks quote:

35. I like Thom Hartmann, but he's way too naive.

Sometimes he'll start to work around to the obvious, then reflexively dart away from it. In this case, he started inching toward the plain fact that Barack Obama is just another bought-and-paid-for corporate tool. Then he pulled away from it and started going down this road.

Hard to give up those comforting illusions, I suppose.
