1. Any Christmas when everyone who was alive last Christmas is

still alive so we can all get together is a good Christmas. For me, it's the family that makes the holiday.

as the cost of living is here (not to mention those tens of thousands of reichwing fundies) it isn't nearly as crippling as other places, and the weather is not horrible, either.

6. We always have a good holiday -- our family is healthy and gets along well, and if you throw in some

wine, a few cookies, and a nice supper, there really isn't more you can ask for. We are very lucky, even in our hard times (which, believe me, we have had), and I hope others can have the holiday we do.

7. With family--that's what counts

I'm taking the entire Christmas week off to spend at home with my wife--my first vacation in five years.

We're spending Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with our daughter and two of our grandchildren. It could only be better if our two sons and their families could also be with us in Alaska.

We cut our Christmas spending by 90% this year--simple, practical gifts. There will be no post-Christmas buyer's remorse or bills to pay.

8. hard to vote in this one

because there are so many factors as to how such things are measured:

Fiscally: worst ever, hands down.

Personally: Excellent, a wonderful partner.

Professionally: Fair, unemployed-turned-starving consultant with hopefully better prospects for 2010.

Family: Excellent, my kids are healthy, happy and doing well in school.

All in all, I'm grateful for so many blessings. But that doesn't take away the sting of the economy and how it's crushed me and nearly everyone I care about.

I appreciate this poll but I'm sure I'm like many who don't know how to average all of the above.

Good example of why research doesn't always reveal the true nature of things.

11. Not so good

I was informed that I will be off payroll on December 29th from the company that I've been employed by for almost 26 years.

12. If Christmas was about the things, then it might not be one of

my families best, but since I really and truly don't look at Christmas that way, it will be a wonderful Christmas if on Christmas day, my family is all together, healthy, happy and hungry for my cooking.

15. My mom wasn't a good cook - unless you call bland good - but she had a secret holiday recipe

that always worked: serve dinner as late as possible.

That way, everybody is so hungry that they'll eat ANYTHING...and so they did (eat anything, that is).

and pay our property taxes which go up.. even as our home value goes down.. figure that one out?

When Toadies and polticians and pretty boys need some money.. they just reach into our back pocket and TAKE IT! How sweet is that?

Can someone tell me where I can find a job where I can get FREE MONEY when needed? All I have to do is sit on some County Commission or State Legislature, pass some laws, and Poof... instant money!

17. I think it will be great. We have some simple plans, and I am really looking forward to it.

Just need to get away from politics for a while, and my mood will improve greatly.
