Documents Suggest Bush White House Failed to Search for Libby's "Missing" Emails Subpoenaed in CIA Leak Probe

Between late 2005 and January 2006, the Bush administration tried to recover "lost" emails from staffers who worked in the Office of the Vice President (OVP), an effort centered on a critical week - October 1 through October 6, 2003. That same week the Justice Department announced it was investigating the leak that Valerie Plame Wilson was a covert CIA operative.

But one name was missing from the list of 70 individuals whose email accounts White House technicians searched in an attempt to recover and restore missing emails: I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby.

...

The absence of Libby's name on the list of individuals whose emails technicians were trying to recover from the Office of the Vice President raises questions as to whether the Bush administration fully cooperated with the criminal investigation into the leak probe, lead by Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald, who had subpoenaed White House emails in January 2004.

...

It was Fitzgerald's investigation that led to revelations that the Bush administration had not been archiving emails in accordance with the Presidential Records Act.

It's really starting to look like we have hard evidence that the Bush administration committed treason. Do we turn a blind eye?

2. Something tells me the Plames will soon have more to work with.
Although it's probably unrelated to their case, there's little doubt more damning information is going to surface. I cannot wait.

4. Do we turn a blind eye? Hell yes.
Depressingly, that's exactly what this "forward-looking" administration is all about. I think the Bushies pioneered some options that this crowd doesn't want to give up. Never know when ya might need to cover the ass of a subordinate who's threatening to take you with him if he goes to the Federal Tennis Camp.

11. I'm still hopeful in this case. I hope he's waiting until the HARD evidence
is overwhelming. This is a step towards that. Or maybe I'm just naive.

15. Cooperated? The Bush * ran the show.
When you get a subpoena and you can set the terms (i.e. off the record, no transcript can be made, can't be made public), you're in charge. Make that - above the law.

How obvious does it have to be?

17. "We need to look forward, not backward"--except for small time criminals.
Then we LOOK BACK at what they DID in the PAST, Mr. President, and take them to court, and produce evidence from their PAST ACTIONS, and witnesses to their actions THAT OCCURRED IN THE PAST, and a judge and/or jury decides whether or not what they did IN THE PAST **was** a crime, and if convicted, they get sentenced for those PAST actions.

Except if they are very rich and very powerful, and committed really huge, horrible crimes, like slaughtering a hundred thousand innocent people to steal their oil, torturing thousands of prisoners, massively spying on everybody, 'losing' billions of dollars, bankrupting the country, stealing elections, breaking nearly every BIG LAW on the books, and committing treason. Then we don't care what they did IN THE PAST.

And thus we can look forward to more really BIG CRIMES in the future.
