Elisabeth Hasselbeck Asks If Stanley Tucci's Recently Deceased Wife Saw His Movie (VIDEO)

Elisabeth Hasselbeck made an awkward mistake Thursday on "The View," asking Stanley Tucci if his recently deceased wife had seen his film, The Lovely Bones.

In fairness, Tucci did bring up his wife first, telling the ladies that she had read the book and didn't want him to do the film.

"My wife had read the book and the first thing she said was, 'You can't do that,'" Tucci said. "And she might have been right, I don't know."

"Has she seen it?" Hasselbeck asked. "Has she seen any parts of it?"

Tucci did not seem flustered by the question, but responded with quick, "No, no, no."

Tucci's wife Kate died in the spring after battling cancer.

9. yeah, because the person responsible for show prep
obviously didn't put that in his bio. :eyes:

And :eyes: because I'm sure you're ALWAYS up-to-date with everyone & know who has had relatives or friends who've recently deceased.

2. Well in fairness if she didn't know his wife had died...
but still awkward.

3. One would think that's a pretty basic fact to learn when you prep for a TV interview
I repeat, "when you prep for a TV interview." If you're on TV for just one hour a day, supposedly the other seven hours should involve some basic research.

4. Give her a break.
Sean Hannity probably didn't know she was dead either.

5. You can't expect poor lil Elizabeth to be prepared!!!
She's just following the ways of her heroine, Sarah Palin! No reason to be prepared, just wing it and then make excuses afterward, right? (Sarcasm, of course)

10. Maybe she DID prep for the interview
and the person who was SUPPOSED to put that little fact in there didn't do their job right.

6. It's unfortunate that Elisabeth Hasselbeck is taking a job
that should have gone to someone much more qualified to appear on a nationally-broadcast talk show. Then again, is there anything relevant about "The View"?

It would be too much to ask to insist that Hasselbeck actually do some research. I'm sure it's tough for her to walk and chew gum at the same time.

What a waste.

8. It's entertainment, not serious journalism
I'm not a big Elizabeth Hasselbeck fan but who cares if she wasn't prepared? It's just an entertainment show. John Stewart is not always prepared when he does his interviews either. Sounds like Tucci handled it graciously.
