3. I heard that as well.
365 days at Camp David since his pretzeldency started. That's one year out of six. A worse pResident would be hard to find.

9. I actually don't have a huge problem with weekends at Camp David.
It's the 5-6 weeks spent at Crawford each summer that is totally outrageous.

11. I think the only reason he does that is so that the
summer of 2001 doesn't look so conspicuous.

14. I agree with that, and I hope Cindy continues to go to Crawford each summer
and annoys the living crap out of him!

16. I agree with you on that. Weekends at Camp David are fine, but it
ticks me off how he runs to that pig farm at the drop of a hat. For awhile there he was having various heads of state go to the pig farm, too. I thought that was just gauche.

6. I don't know...
Looks like it comes pretty naturally to Bush (unfortunately for all of us).

7. It's hard work.....
Most of us have 2 or 3 week vacations per year. To put this in perspective, 365 days in 6 years is over 8.5 weeks per year. That, of course, does not count Bush's time at his Texas ranch and other travel.

Good news is that the time he spends goofing off is time he is not destroying our country!

I think we should encourage as much time off for this man as possible.

He has to hold the record for Presidential time off.

8. I did a little math based on the flight time from the WH to Camp David........
Turns out he has spent just over 15 solid 24 hour days flying on Marine One just to Camp David alone!

WH to Camp David = about 60 air miles
Figure a 30 minute, one-way flight = 1 hour per trip in the Helicopter
365 trips = 365 hours
365 hours / 24 hours = 15.208333 DAYS IN FLIGHT!

That is nothing compared to the time he spends aboard AF 1. Try as I might, there is no source i can find that gives the usage of Air Force One but it HAS to be more than Clinton and his daddy combined. All at $60,000 - $75,000/hr.

12. Um, the trips aren't one day long each
They are probably weekend trips, 2-3 days, so more like 5-7 days in flight. Still a lot. The helicopter time costs us a lot.

365 days in six years isn't that bad if they are just weekends. The long trips to Crawford are much more insulting, as if there is no work for the President to do if Congress is not in session.

As long as he/she manages to show up most days, the next President will almost automatically look better than Bush.

13. I think
that as long as our next President can string together a coherent sentence, he/she will automatically look better than Bush. ;) /snark

17. Of course...you are correct. "DOH!"
Yeah, you're right. 2 or more days.

Ok...I'll refigure.

365 / 2 day stays = 182.5 stays
182.5 1 hour roundtrips = 7.6041666 24 hour periods in the air.

Adjust down as you like for length of stay.

But still....what a dick!

10. Like He Works When He's In Washington???
I tend to take a deep breath every time he heads to the pig farm in Texas. At least we know he can't mess more things up than he already has.

18. $400k a year plus expenses, for that?!
Personally I think the American people are being ripped off. Based on the quality of his "work", Bush's salary needs to be adjusted ... downwards.

I would not begrudge him even having 4 weeks of vacation per year, in addition to the usual holidays, if he were doing some good! (If he had tact, which of course he doesn't, he'd at least split it up instead of taking a whole month off .... I also think it's unwise of him to assume that everything will grind to a halt when he's on vacation, and indeed I suspect that his inattentiveness during the summer contributed to the major disasters on 9/11 and during Katrina.)
