I wish the repubicans weren't such cowards .....
.... when they controlled the Senate. They threatened the nuclear option, but didn't have the guts to pull the trigger.

Too bad. If we had that, I really, honestly think the Senate would have given us a far better bill. Complain though I do, there are, I believe 51 Senators who would want a REAL health care reform bill.

And yes, this cuts both ways and I recall what it was like when we lost seats during the Bush years and how desperate I felt knowing our only hope was the filibuster. But the Senate is so mired in this 60 vote shit that NOTHING good gets done.

Its time to end it.

2. They're afraid of everything. Just listen to anything they say.
I hate this bill, but the one saving grace of passing it is the FAIL the Repubs will have to own if anything at all passes. Again, I hate this bill.

4. not afraid to fight obviously
truth be told here i suspect if it does pass it will make the repubs look good, as said before this bill stinks to high heaven, and doing everything they can to stop it is making them look good in most everyones eyes. I'm beginning to feel as if following the party line on this issue is a no win situation, especially after the down turn in favor for the bill.
I'm sorry to say that the repubs are going to have a run away with the next election i fear, looks like we tried to grab to much too soon. i know it may be too much to hope for but maybe obama will see that this bill sucks and send it back, would sure take some of the bad tast out everyones mouth for the dem party.

3. Republicans used reconciliation in quite a few instances
and went so far as to fire two Senate Parliamentarians who disagreed.

Sorry to say, when it comes to enacting policy- Democrats have the market cornered on cowardice and ineptitude. Republicans on the other hand, know how to get their agenda through (nefarious and unpopular though it may be).

5. I have another proposal
Enact a 90 or 120 day suspension of the filibuster in times of national emergency, to be reenacted as necessary until the emergency passes.

I think being in 2 unwinnable wars and having 54,000 people dying needlessly every year for want of timely health care are sufficient national emergencies, as are having the treasury depleted and the infrastructure left to rot to fatten the rich.

Then there are the 100+ bills passed by the House that haven't been acted upon because GOPs in committees are sitting on them, threatening to filibuster. These are mostly non controversial bills. The GOP are just a bunch of buttheads and they seriously need potty training.

Any national emergency would have to be justified, of course, and couldn't consist merely of having one's party's agenda questioned.

7. They are still cowards.
They just whine more, now that some of them have to work a little.
