Boy Rescued From Costco Gun Safe

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― A young boy was rescued after becoming locked inside a gun safe on the showroom floor of a Sacramento Costco.

The Sacramento Fire Department rushed to the store on the 1600 block of Expo Parkway at about 1:45 p.m. Sunday after receiving reports of an 11-year-old boy who had become trapped inside a gun safe.

Authorities said the unidentified boy went inside the safe and the door closed behind him, locking him inside. The battery mechanism inside the lock was either dead or missing, so employees could not reopen the safe.

Firefighters were preparing to drill holes into the safe to let air in when a new battery finally opened the lock. The boy was not harmed.

i'm sure that there are plenty of costco customers- even moreso these days, that like the idea of having a safe place to keep their firearms.

Does any general merchandise store "need" to carry any specific item. Do you "need" to buy the stuff that you buy? Fortunately, America does not have a Bureau of Need that we have to ask permission from before doing anything.

BTW - A gun safe can be used to store other stuff in besides guns. Some people may want to store jewelry, expensive camera equipment, important papers, medicines, or anything else that they want to keep safe from burglars. Did you every consider that?

Most people use them for guns, but it's thoroughly conceivable that someone could put other valuables--jewelry, money, gold coins, whatever--in it.
