Teen charged with ice pick attack on motorist

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. | A southwest Missouri teenager is accused of stabbing a man with an ice pick in a dispute over a parking spot.

The Greene County prosecutor on Monday charged 18-year-old Caitlen Watkins of Springfield with first-degree assault and armed criminal action.

Police say the altercation occurred Sunday afternoon in the parking lot of a shopping center. According to court documents, Watkins and a passenger in her car confronted another driver after he took a parking place Watkins wanted.

Witnesses told police a fight broke out and the other driver was stabbed a half-dozen times with a wooden-handled, 5-inch ice pick. Witnesses helped break up the fight.
