Link to my photos from DC
Edited on Mon Jan-29-07 02:06 PM by SharonRB
There are photos from the Archives, the Museum of the American Indian and the meetup at Hawk & Dove, as well as photos from the march. I didn't include captions, as I couldn't remember eveyone's names.

5. That was catnapper's sign -- short and to the point
We all loved it.

And it was my pleasure -- you're very welcome.

31. Ooooh, thanks!
I just got back from DC a couple of hours ago and had to review the forum for pix. Aren't we a handsome bunch (not the guy on the sign!)?

It was too much fun getting to see SharonRB & Co. up close and personal.

I'm about to download my camera and see if there's anything people might like to see.

6. What great pics...
I am so glad that there wasn't any violence.
That no one got hurt or arrested.
That there was no tear gas, scenes of people being clubbed and dragged away.

This weekend, my country looked a little more like I remembered it.

I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK!

8. I was glad, too
We (me, livvy and WolverineDG) witnessed something that could have gotten nasty as we were walking back to our hotel after the march. There were some young people dancing in the street on Independence Ave. in front of the Botanical Gardens. The police wanted to open the street back up and they wouldn't move. You can see some of this in the photos -- they moved in with cops on bicycles, on motorcycles with sidecars, on horses, in cars, in K-9 unit cars and in unmarked SUVs. They also brought in a paddy wagon. These kids just wouldn't budge -- for no good reason. The cops were extremely restrained in their actions -- they came out in force, but didn't use any force. They finally opened up the street, I assume hoping that would get the kids to move, but some of them just sat down in the middle of the road at that point (I saw a Reuters photo of some guy from Columbus, OH being identified). That didn't last long, because we soon saw traffic moving through.

I think these kids just came to find a way to get arrested, but the police just wouldn't oblige them.

28. Not only was there no violence . . .
But imagine . . . a half million people, at least half of them carrying protest signs . . .

AND NOT ONE SINGLE PAPER CUT!!

I was there. It was awesome. Just started going through the photo gallery that has been put up by United For Peace and Justice

http://www.flickr.com/groups/44246010@N00/pool/

and it's so great, really captures the amazing spirit of the day.

11. Thanks!
Great to see you again. Hope you had an uneventful trip home.

Did you guys ever get to Kelly's Saturday night? We didn't see anyone we knew except stonecoldsober, so we all left (including him). Wolverine and babylonsister were exhausted. Why I was still ready to party, being the oldest of our group, I don't know, but I'm really sorry that night didn't work out.

14. No Wolverine called while we were eating dinner
and said you guys were leaving. So evl went out looking for beer and I went back to my room. I thought about going to the Code Pink party but I was too tired.

We went back to the hotel and collapsed for awhile after the march but we were still pretty pooped out. Saving our country is pretty hard work!!

We went back to our room, watched a little news and crashed early. What a bunch of party poopers!

I was standing right there when she talked to you.

I so enjoyed meeting you and getting some time to get to know each other. Hopefully we'll get another chance to get together in the future (although it would be nice to not have the same reason to get together!).

21. When we celebrate the Bush regime's resignation
That is what I am putting out to the Universe. Now that will be the best DU Meetup ever. Though, I do believe we will need more than a weekend to celebrate that, more like a week.

I loved talking with you during the march. Lots of laughs.

32. they don't show up any bigger than screensize - that's the way of these sites
they don't let you put up the super-hi-res photos. you'd have to put them up at a filesharing place. they should be over a meg each in size.
