Great web site on inequality
http://toomuchonline.org/

I used to subscribe to this when it was a printed quarterly newsletter. Now apparently it's an online-only publication, with a regular e-mail newsletter that you can subscribe to. There are tons of great articles on the site with plenty of statistics. Edited by labor journalist Sam Pizzigati, who is one of my favorite journalists along with the impressive and still underappreciated Jim Hightower.

1. That is a good website.
I like the top ten list of the Greediest Americans. Robert Rubin listed as #7.

The chart showing the widening income gap from 1979 to 2007 is stunning. I didn't think it was possible to become any more disgusted with this system we live under, but I was wrong, again!

No wonder no one has any money and people are losing their homes and jobs. And no wonder this government doesn't care about the 'bottom 90%'.

One of the greedy bastards buys up other companies, takes their customers, and fires their workers! They have no conscience at all. And they have so much power because of the money they have.

I see Rupert Murdoch made the list also. But seeing Rubin on the list explains a lot about the policies of this administration. The bailouts etc. Goldman Sachs seems to run this country. Why don't they just run for office and at least let the people see their greedy faces?

A quote from Rubin: Overall, Rubin pocketed $126 million in cash and stock for his Citi labors. But he seems to regard his years at the bank as something akin to public service. Declared Rubin in one exit interview: “I bet there's not a single year where I couldn't have gone somewhere else and made more.”

These people are sick. Rubin was so instrumental in rescinding the Glass Steagal Act. As late as last year I refused to believe that Democrats were as involved in that as Republicans. Talk about feeling like a fool!

2. They are good at fooling us.
I've fallen for the populist talk too many times, only to end up disappointed. The current debacle over health care is the final straw for me, though. I don't believe anything they say any more. Don't worry about feeling like a fool, they designed the whole charade to fool us.

3. Thanks, and yes, this whole health care debacle
watching it unfold, the revelations of secret meetings with Pharmaceutical lobbyists while refusing to allow advocates of Single Payer to participate. They are becoming more blatant now. The people have been so debilitated that they don't matter any more, it seems. I wonder why we even have elections, since the candidates appear to be pre-selected, vetted to make sure they will be good salespeople for the Corps, and they, to preserve the appearance of a democracy, they let the people choose between the finalists.

I don't know what can be done about it as they have been allowed to gain such a strong foothold. But like you, this was the final straw for me also.
