Nate Silver adds "global warming denialists" to insults hurled at opponents of Senate health bill

First Silver called them "batshit crazy." Now they are "global warming deniers" as well.

NATE SILVER (12-21-09): "I'm sorry, but debating the kill-billers on the policy merits of their position has become a bit like debating the global warming denialists."

It seems that the fact that a progressive rising start named Jon Walker of Firedoglake has pushed Silver's buttons. Walker politely debunks pro-senate-health-bill claims made by Ezra Klein and Nate Silver several times a day, in rapid succession.

They can throw around terms like "corporatist whores" and "traitors" with abandon, but if someone points out that the logic of their fact-challenged missives is akin to that of global warming deniers they just wet their panties like like tiny little boys and girls.

They think they can throw tantrums with abandon, but nobody is allowed to point out that they are out of control.

I give up. You know, before the Internet, you had to actually subscribe to magazines to get at teh crazy (The Nation screaming that Clinton was running drugs out of Mena airport, everyone wringing their hands that people would be dying in the streets if Welfare Reform passed (I even bought that one)). Today, all teh crazy and teh stoopid is a click away, and repeated endlessly on the Internet.

I'll go one step further than Nate: we are witnessing mass hysteria.

The comparison is carefully constructed and, I'm sure, well considered, not just an off-the-cuff remark.
