I hope they caught it early. Interestingly, she was born in 1938. I understand that breast cancer is not so common among much older women. Am I wrong about this?

21. Actually, you are. Breast cancer is far, far more common in older women than younger ones.

A woman's odds of getting breast cancer increase as she ages.

It seems from the kind of treatment she's chosen that chemotherapy is not going to be part of it, just radiation, so from that it seems safe to conclude that it was caught early (as in,, before it spread) and that her particular cancer is unlikely to be so aggressive that it appears likely to spread even after having been caught and treated early. This is all good news. I hope her news continues to be good all the way.
