Can you name any politicians who have said they expect this bill to improve in Conference?

I know there are a lot of congress critters who say they hope it will get better, but is anyone actually predicting that it will improve or can name any specific provisions from the House Bill not currently in the Senate Bill that they believe will survive Conference?

I don't recall hearing any of them sounding the least bit hopefull, in fact from the tone of things everyone out there thinks the Senate version is as good as its going to get.

Ted Kennedy's existing CHC program expands along lines developed by Bernie Sanders and Ben Cardin.

The single best thing to happen for America's working poor since food stamps:

-- $$$$$ to attract 20,000 primary care physicians, nurses, etc.

-- Drugs at VHA prices

-- Dental care

-- Patient billing scaled to income

-- No profit motive.

-- 40% saving for chronic care.

-- 1/5th the cost of Emergency Room treatment.

-- Care separated completely from money.

Alan Frumin, the Senate Parliamentarian, showed last April that non-budgetary insurance sections would not qualify for reconciliation. Filibusters would doom any Senate P.O.

Harry Reid concealed Sanders-Cardin till the last hour, then popped it into the Senate HCR Managers Amendment.

2. Barbara Boxer yesterday thought it would improve a bit.

There are others. Nobody is predicting what will survive conference because that would be a politically counter-productive move.
