Golf Digest suspends Woods how-to column

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- Golf Digest is suspending Tiger Woods' monthly golf instruction column until the U.S. golf star returns to action in the PGA Tour, the magazine said Wednesday.

Woods said this month he would take an indefinite leave from the tour while he works on personal and family problems that came to light after he was injured in a car crash Nov. 27. Since then, several women have claimed to have had sexual relationships with Woods during his marriage to Elin Nordegren, and at least one major advertiser has dropped its sponsorship deal with Woods.

"We respect Tiger's decision to take a break from professional golf and focus on his family," Bret Hopman, a publicist for Golf Digest, said. "Tiger's bylined instruction articles will not be published in Golf Digest during his time away from the game."

In addition to Accenture's decision to sever marketing ties with Woods, Gillette has stopped running ads featuring his image, Gatorade has ceased production of a sports drink bearing his name and AT&T has said it is re-evaluating its relation with him.
