It is often said that Christmas is all about family, about brotherhood, about sharing. Many people point out that it is mainly about celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, and his message of peace, and love, and forgiveness.
Aren't those great sentiments? It's great to take some time and reflect about what it is like to feel love for humanity, no matter how imperfect we are. It's the kind of love that makes you hopeful, even if one recognizes our failings as human beings, including extreme greed, the plundering and destruction of the environment, and widespread ignorance.
Because humans also have an incredible capacity for good, for love, for artistic expression, altruism, selflessness, ingenuity, empathy, and compassion. I choose to share this message today with you out of love, and out of hope, and with the intention of reaching out to those who are suffering...
