Now that HCR passed, what things could be done in reconsiliation

I'm in the "it's not the bill I wanted, but it's a start" camp - (feels sorta like the primaries around here, you have to state who/what you're backing)

2. I figure some of the edges of the Senate Bill will be sharpened

but over all the final bill is going to look a lot like the Senate bill.

3. I don't know - there were some things slipped in to the managers

amendment at the very last hour that made me wonder if the Repubs had been played, kept distracted with things that the leadership knew they couldn't get passed while they firmed up support for a few things that had never been mentioned, much less blustered about on FAUX news.

I feel like a few folks were sharp enough to know which corporate whores were going to sell out and planned accordingly, including all the arcane rules of the Senate. It's like the things that were good that got traded out can be done later, without the need for 60 votes now. ie expanding Medicare to 55+ - it's a budget thing, so can go to reconciliation 51 votes. Maybe I'm being too optimistic at this point, but it seems like a good number of solid progressive Senators came on board after almost token resistance.

4. What do you mean?

When you say reconciliation do you mean the proper 'Budget Reconciliation' process that was NOT used or do you mean reconciling the differences between the House/Senate Bill within the conference committee?

One thing people need to keep in mind, the conference committee process can only address resolve differences between the bills. Portions that are the same in both bills cannot be touched.
