Airport Employee Hurt In Otter Debacle That Delayed Flight

COLUMBUS, Ohio — An employee at Houston's Bush Airport was hurt Tuesday night while trying to round up otters that escaped from their cages inside a plane's cargo hold.

The Houston Chronicle reported on its Web site that the employee was treated and released after the bizarre incident that delayed a Continental Airlines flight bound for Columbus for about 90 minutes.

The otters apparently escaped their cages inside the cargo hold. A passenger told 10TV News that one of the otters managed to get onto the airport tarmac.

"We watched them take them off the plane in a box and the next thing we know one of the otters got loose and took off across the tarmac," the passenger said.

Most of the flight's passengers were amused by the debacle.

8. Well, I knew dogs and cats traveled like that but an otter seemed sort of exotic and wet.
