Brackets on this board are interpreted in the posting mechanism as < & > in your browsers usual interpretation of the "raw html" of a given page. That's why "bold" is "started" by a b in brackets, and "ended" by a /b in brackets.

In case that is so much gibberish, I'll make it simple: the only things that won't completely disappear when posted inside of brackets are html tags. Try typing a b in brackets, then type some more stuff... and post/preview it- you'll see what I mean.

If you want to use brackets to post on DU, don't. Use "<" & ">" instead.

Or just scratch your head as your text disappears.
