Fuck christmas ...my cat just died.
Edited on Thu Dec-24-09 09:04 PM by L0oniX

Took Sammy to the vet emergency clinic ... bleeding from one eye and blind ...happened over night. Wonderful way to spend the day off.

We already lost a daughter due to crack and heroin this year and this tops off the year.

16. I'm truly sorry for your loss. I have 3 females and one male. All the females are
more than 15 years old so anything can happen with any one of the at any time. Old age is not for sissies at any species. They all seem to be healthy and spirited, though.

9. How terrible. I know how you feel - I lost my best kitty a year ago not
long before Christmas to a rapidly growing cancer and it's a terrible shock to have it happen so suddenly.

Have a good cry and a stiff drink. And eat some chocolate. It will help.

22. Sorry my friend.
Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of Heaven is a place called The Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes over the Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill or old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling to each other in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face, your hands again caress the beloved head and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart!

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together……..

In Memory of our Loved Ones

they are waiting for us over the Rainbow Bridge.

My 1st horse shattered his hock some 40 years ago. I was devastated. About 6 months later, I had a strange, silent dream that felt outside of time. My beautiful Teago stood before me. He was whole again, and safe. He let me know that he was well. It was only then that I started to heal. His picture still stands across from the bed.

47. Many times I have dreamed of being reunited with him, and every time he tells me he didn't die - that he got well, and he has just been fine all along, but just had to go away for a time.

37. I'm sorry for all your losses -
This time of year is the time of extremes, of losses and gains.
Both my furbabies died around this time over the past two years - suddenly, as yours did - and 20/21 years ago my husband lost both his firstborn and his first marriage during this season. We always tend to be on edge when we're supposed to be celebrating the end of one year and the beginning of the next.
I will light a candle for you and yours. And send wishes that next year will be better for you.

Life is a river that keeps going forward to the sea; sometimes there's rocks, snags, and rapids that can pull you under, and sometimes it's smooth with a simple current that drifts lazily through the sun-speckled trees.

Haele

The cats will be the last that we have. Our birds have taken over for the most part. One, a male eclectus actually sleeps right next to my wife ...so cute. Sammy was our favorite and best of our 3 cats and he provided much love for my wife during some very hard times before I came along.

I know that Cleo, and the sweet spirits of other DUers' fur babies who have passed, greeted Sammy at the Bridge and welcomed him.

He is no longer suffering....

73. RIP Sammy
I lost my 19 year old kitty a little over a year ago. I still miss her terribly. But over the summer we added a stray dog to our home. Unfortunately she has already had health issues and she is only about 1 1/2 years old. She's been limping for almost 2 months and the vet can't even figure out why. My Christmas wish for this year is that she will quit limping and get to play like a normal puppy. Hopefully you will take in another cat or dog to fill in the emptiness. There are so, so many out there that need homes. Do it for yourself. Do it for Sammy.

75. So Sorry
What a shit year. I am sorry for your losses. I think we pet owners expect that we will out-live our pets. It's always awful when it happens, and gut-wrenching. But to lose a kid...I can't even imagine. I hope 2010 is infinitely better for you. You are in my thoughts.

unexpected, is a terrible pain. as kestrel said, have a drink--eat some chocolate, and know that you have a whole family here who understand and grieve with you.

103. I woke up one Christmas when my three year old cat had died in the middle of the night
Edited on Fri Dec-25-09 01:20 PM by cascadiance
It was the day after Christmas I found him lying still in the bed next to me. Was one of the shocks of my life and spoiled that holiday too. Had just gotten a kitten as a gift that Christmas to be this one's companion then. I empathize with your grief. So sorry for your losses.

Sometimes holidays seem to suck. Just lost my dad a couple of weeks ago, and two years ago lost another cat the day after Thanksgiving. A decade or so earlier my dad and myself carried his father's casket in December then too. Have had some persistent health problems myself over the last two weeks too that have made it suck so that I can't enjoy as much of the holiday food, etc. and fly on plane flights without pain killers.

I remember watching the movie Gremlins around the earlier time and how they talked about a death in the family on Christmas too. Sticks in my mind then.

I feel bad about the cat too but wow.

I thought we had a tough year but you beat me out.

I've been unemployed for a year, in July my oldest son had his second brain tumor removed in 2 years, and after landing a job with no base and only commission the head gasket blew on my ancient mini van....but I got it easy it seems.

Hugs and hope things get better.

You have suffered two great losses, and my heart goes out to you. There can be nothing worse than the loss of a child...I can't imagine. Heartbreaking and very, very unfair. As others have said, our pets are with us for way too short a time, but it's hard to say good-bye to any family member. If anyone is deserving of a peaceful New Year, it is you and your family. My best wishes for that becoming a reality in 2010.
