Another Christmas where we wage war in a season of peace
This Christmas once again sees the US once more fighting an imperial war in a far off land.

Despite the illegality, the utter futility, not to mention the immorality of these wars, we continue to find ourselves involved in Iraq and Afghanistan, with bonus hot spots in Pakistan and Yemen.

Today there will be shots fired, people injured and killed, both soldiers and civilians, all in a series of pointless conflicts that do nothing except fill the coffers of the MIC.

This is not a Christian nation, nor a Christian president, not when we continue to inflict this kind of death and destruction on so many innocent people. We certainly aren't following the teachings of Christ right now. The hypocrisy of this is simply astounding.

How long will this continue? Apparently for the foreseeable future. Now having doubled down not once, but twice in Afghanistan, Obama is opening up new wars in Pakistan and Yemen. Why?

So, on this fine snowy Christmas day, can you step back and take a critical look. Can you live with yourself knowing that while you are eating a fine dinner, enjoying the company of friends and family, opening presents around the tree, innocent men and women are suffering and dying, not for your sins, but certainly in your name.

We elected this man, we put him into office, the blame rests on our shoulders this Christmas, the blood is on our hands. If you don't want to face this moral problem next year, get out and work to end these wars.

"And so this is Christmas
for weak and for strong,
for rich and the poor ones.
The road is so long.
And so happy Christmas
for black and for white,
for yellow and red ones.
Let's stop all the fight.
A very merry Christmas
and a happy new year.
Let's hope it's a good one
without any fear. " John Lennon

Well said, and thanks for your post. This is a bogus war with no winnable outcome. Unfortunately, it will continue as long as we permit it.

6. Season of Peace? WTF? Perhaps if this bothers you, then you
should come to recognize that there is no such thing as a season of peace. I mean seriously how peaceful is a season based on the supposed birth of a child that was to be so heinously treated with full permission from his so-called father?

You people with your BS about the season. Grow UP!

13. Wow, you ass u me so much,
In such an angry tone.

You don't know me, you ass u me. You ass u me that I am Christian, consider the possibility that I'm not. That consideration could lead to the possibility that I'm also into some subtle sarcasm here, since after all, this is a nation that considers itself Christian, and I'm simply using that archetype to make people think (what a novel concept)

Or perhaps I'm simply showing a bit of respect (something that is lacking in this society), after all the Druids did pray with the Christian priests back in the day.

Either way, you ass u me much, and really now, is the joke all that fun if I have to explain it all? Lighten up and read for subtlety, recognize that these are the intertubes and you're operating without the benefit of body cues that actually might tip you off to jokes, sarcasm and subtlety.

16. I made no conclusion about your religion at all, "you people" refers to those that
claim this as a season of peace, based on what? if not Christmas? What about beginning the starkest and most difficult season of the year for survival in the northern hemisphere equates to a peace season?

You started this naive topic, use no indication of anything regarding smilies or /sarcasm or anything else, and expect to blame me because of your inability to get your full message across?

Poor child, fear not, you'll outgrow your foolishness.

17. Ah, now the condscending approach,
Gee, you really know how to win friends and influence people don't you(hint, sarcasm alert:sarcasm::sarcasm::sarcasm:)

You may think this is naive, but that is simply your opinion, others seem to appreciate it, and if you don't like it, simply move on.

And you actually did make a conclusion about my religion, you assumed that I was Christian, extolling Christmas, that's why you decided to tear into my ass. But now you deny that. Look, when you get caught out, it's best to be graceful rather than trying to take it back. All you're doing is making yourself look foolish.

As far as sarcasm smilies, again, sometimes telling about the joke up front spoils the whole thing. I admit, I made a mistake. I assumed that most people around here were intelligent enough to pick up on such subtlety. I was wrong about that, and for that I would like to apologize (sarcasm alert :sarcasm::sarcasm::sarcasm:)

18. If the foo shits. No, seriously, you really read a lot into stuff for someone
whose OP was so vague and brief as to be easily misunderstood.

I'm not here to make friends indiscriminately or to influence people who chose not to be influenced.

Since Christmas is no longer simply a Christian day, I did not make a religious assumption, but you're free to remain skeptical and defensive about it if you choose.

You clearly do not have the knack yet for presenting an OP satirically or sarcastically without using emoticons. Very few people no matter how skilled can accomplish that. You're not one of them, neither am I.

8. I can comfortable spend my time and meager finances with my dear ones today
Because I supported none of this, and was ridiculed by almost everyone for doing so over the past 10 years.

War is evil, unnecessary and highly profitable to the right people. It has no place in a "civilized" culture...which says a lot about us.

I will enjoy this day and spread the cheer that I can, knowing that I have done what I am able to with my limited means. I suggest we all do the same.

After all, it's not our government, is it?
