Detroit is NOT a Hot Bed for Terror..Media needs to MOVE ON.....
I live in the Wayne/Washtenaw County area. I can tell you FIRST HAND that this community is not a HOT BED for terror and it is obvious that this so-called "Underwear Bomber" did not know about the area he was going to land within.

We have many Muslim people living in our community. It is not unusual in the least to run into a Muslim store owner and/or family just going out shopping. I personally speak with many Muslims and find them to be nice, hardworking people that work in their places of business 24/7/365....and on Christmas Day too.

In my town, we have a Muslim church less than 2 miles from me. Fellow worshipers gather PEACEFUL at this church on Friday's and other days they have services without any incidents.

Dearborn, MI is the home to many Muslims and Arabic people. The town is clean, many businesses are thriving in the bad S.E. Michigan economy and no one that I know is afraid to drive in the many areas of this town for fear of a so-called "Terror Attack".

As for the various nasty jokes about the Detroit area....this is not funny in the least. I would like to know if you or your neighbors seen people in traditional Muslim dress, would you call the police to report a terror suspect or better yet simply discriminate against the individual because they do not "Fit into the mode" of your community....you know....the Race Mode....

The suspect should have not tried a attack at all anywhere in the United States....least of all in the Detroit Area or DTW airport. It is obvious that he did not communicate with the many peaceful Muslims that live in S.E. Michigan to know that Michiganders accept and welcome people of Muslim faith here. I hope the media will move on......SOON.....out of our area!

1. The minute it happened, my first thought was, "How long before the media....
.... starts bringing up the large Arab & Muslim population in southeast Michigan?"

Sadly, they were right on cue......

3. Yeap. The media needs to actually..
Talk to some of the Muslim people in our communities. Maybe get their ideas on how they feel on these "Terror" incidents. I bet they do not support this type of behavior in the least.

It just seems the media is trying to stir up the pot. They just need to get out of here and move on to the next story. There is no continued story here.

The suspect is at the Federal Prison is Milan....pronounced-My-Land....not May-Lawn....like I hear some stupid reporter say on CNN. He will not be getting out at this location to do anything, anytime soon. This Federal Prison has never had one escape attempt, that I can remember.

4. Where I used to live there was a QuickStop and a Muslim man was
the proprietor. Lovely man, worked constantly. He told me his wife was here with him and two girls, his son was being educated "over there" as he called it and I didn't ask. Kidding one day I asked him if he would be closed Christmas and he said "Oh no, what if you run out of something?" When 9-11 happened he was literally in tears. Customers knew he was very upset and respected his sadness, fears. Even the neighborhood redneck boys backed off, one of them asking if he needed help in stocking or any heavy work. I'll always remember him and his demeanor set my impression of Muslims. Hard working and very respectful people.

I go to two stores around the corner from me.....One thing about Michiganders, everything is around the corner unless it is more than 10 miles away. Anyway, I love shopping at these stores. The owners are nice, will ask how is my family doing and if I am short on change for an item....say don't worry about it.

When things like this "Terror" attack happen, it places Muslims on edge for NO REASON. They are not the problem. The Muslims of this community are not the problem. We had Tim McVaugh that blew up a Federal Building in OK and no one said that we should target all white males and focus on them.

The media makes me ill and I know that the angle of the high Muslim population here and the "DTW Terror Attack" will be the next story for these slime individuals.

6. Not a word on how Muslims, jews and christians in the area got together to help the poor though.
I agree. Detroit is not a hotbed of terror activity, if it were there would have been many attacks before now. I think the guy is mostly a wanna be and probably doesn't even have a clue in regards to how diverse the area is. Does anyone even know if Detroit was to be his final destination?

I get sick of the Detroit bashing too. I worked in the city many years and never had an incident, even when my car broke down in the middle of the night at the corner of Euclid and Woodward. People were curious, most were kind. I never felt unsafe. All people seem to remember about Detroit is that it was once the murder capital of the US. That's several years back now, you think anyone is trashing Chicago which is the 2009 Murder capital, or Washington DC which follows Chicago in a close second?

8. My granddaughter lives in Mt. Clemens and she loves it. I've often
asked if she would want to move and the answer was absolutely not. She works in one of the colleges in the area and is quite happy.

More terror funding investigations/arrests than anyplace else in the country.
