A travel internationally after the fun

yep it was fun, but what was much more fun was... the reaction from your fellow Americans and the Canadians I sat besides on the flight to Phoenix.

First things first, our wonderful foreign papers had a "there they go again..." commentary on the how them Muricans are afraid. Yes the papers were funny, and to a point even BBC was FUN.

Second we were checked before boarding, by security. Now the funny thing was... Muricans complained that them Mexicans were going to do a full pat down? I pointed out to a woman loudly complaining to security personnel, look these are the requirements from DHS, so don't complaint to them, complaint to your damn government! The security personnel could not say a word, they thanked me.

Oh and my favorite, on inbound flights you cannot stand or go to the bathroom an hour before landing... talk about being treated like kids. I knew this so I took a book from the shelf, since there was no access to your electronics or anything else either. Oh and the crew was shocked I tell you that this was published in the local papers. I kept to myself the editorial that went, there they go again!!!!! And then they wonder why tourism is down and nobody really wants to travel to the US.

Speaking of that, the Canadians that sat besides me said that they AVOID the US any longer. They had no choice but to go in transit from Mexico, but they truly avoid going to the US any longer. This is gong to get to the point where people will go... no thank you. And yes, this was ONE reason the Olympic games did not go to Chicago okay.

Ah yes, the fun and games... oh and for god sakes the US NEEDS to learn how to build airports. What the heck is this about going through Immigration and Customs and then having to go BACK through TSA checkpoints? There is a reason why I no longer buy anything at the duty free stores abroad. But both Dallas and Phoenix do not have sterile connections to the rest of the airport... and people complaint about airports in other parts of the world...

Such is life... and I do hate to be treated like a child because they want to control the population and ahem keep us 'fraid.

Wait until my four-year old has to pee an hour before landing, or when we have to take away his toy Batman which we already use to help keep him from freaking out when we strap him into this seat.

by the way today they started relaxing these ahem requirements. I guess they got plenty of ahem complaining already.

Me, I knew, so I took actual physical books from the shelf, but I knew because I read the morning paper and planned accordingly, aka I had an extra hour at your local airport instead of family, and a tummy ache from hell because of the fun and games to come.

What is galling is that a lot of what they do is fer damn show, at least IMHO, knowing what I know...

And yes for many reasons I do feel safer flying from Mexico City... but that is not worthy of discussion over a board.

4. The funniest thing is that it doesn't even matter if the terrorist were

successful in their acts or not. A half-assed attempt is perfectly sufficient nowadays.
What a great comfort to the terrorists - they can achieve all their goals without even
actually killing anyone.

We ain't that special. In fact, we're downright backward in many ways.

in others not so much.

As me and my mom talked about it, yes there are things we absolutely abhor about the land of the free... but there are others that we do like. (Not that some of them are gonna remain there for long either, but that is 'nother matter)
