Got screened at customs, coming INTO the terminal, and exiting the flight lounge. Rescheduled flights required "exiting" the gate area (I mean the ACTUAL gate) which also got you rescreened just to go two gates over. It took every single person who went through an average of 5 minutes to pass the screener, lines backed up out of sight, with multiple pat downs, laying out every single item in your carry on, explaining what every wire, battery, and adapter was for, and trying not to bite somebody.
Even the plane supply and staff were delayed well enough that they finally just started cancelling U.S. flights right and left and clearing the terminal. It was truly an overreaction - and I suspect, a union slow down on the part of Air Canada.
And about that sixty minute time frame - why sixty? Now that everybody knows, any body who made it through with a multi-part bomb strapped to their taint and a bottle of lip gloss is probably going to disrobe and start assembling everything at minute 62.
Are we really this stupid? Good god, the TSA is just useless. The "terror" part of the terrorism went off without a hitch: travel and economic disruption.
Wannabe Terrorists 1, TSA 0.
