LOLiberty University professors go to Turkey to find Noah's Ark
I found this courtesy of PZ Myers's blog. It references the aritcle "Excursion continues to find Noah's Ark in Turkey" from the Lynchburg, Va. newspaper The News & Advance.

If Noah’s Ark has been sitting on a mountain somewhere in the Middle East for a few millennia, a few more months of waiting are a small price to pay, at least for Randall Price.

Price, who heads Liberty University’s Center For Judaic Studies, talked in January about his planned two-season expedition into Turkey, with the hopes of finding the Biblical artifact. He arrived in Turkey over the summer.

But Price said since then, he’s faced pressure from a political group in Turkey that is forcing him to keep his excursion very hush-hush.

“There’s not a lot (regarding Noah’s Ark) that I can say,” Price said, but he went on to give some basic details of what he plans to do next August, as the expedition finishes up.

Of course, flood geology is frickin' religiously-motivated pseudoscience.

1. somewhere in Turkey a shepherd is laughing at them

Last fall, a new tip piqued both his and Price’s interest.

A Kurdish shepherd told them that he had seen the ark, and even climbed on top of it, when he was a boy.

The team hypothesizes that the ark is preserved in several pieces beneath a glacier on the mountain, and every so often the glacier recedes, exposing part of the vessel.

“That’s when he saw it as a boy,” Price said, adding that they had interviewed the shepherd and could find no reason to distrust him.

2. Now where did the Liberty University turkeys go?
They may not Noah lot, but at least they may figure that to find it, they'll have to use Ark lighting.

3. They have found the Ark, but were perplexed by an inscription
carved into one of the beams. It said "Gilgamesh was here."

I thought there was a documentary some 20-30 years ago about the discovery of Noah's Ark.

Maybe it was 50 years ago...

edited to fix link...(?)

8. Nah. What the Fundy Repubs found was 'Noah's Park'
Edited on Mon Dec-28-09 05:59 PM by SpiralHawk
It's a theme park that costs $50 a pop for admission. When they 'found it' they made a super big deal out of it, cuz it's even cooler than 'Chickenhawk World,' which up till then was the really BIG draw for republicon Latter Day Pharisees.

Isn't that like Bob Jones having an Afro-American Studies Department?

10. PS: Classes that analyze pop culture are even more intellectual than this BS
The Jerry Falwell-funded fundie Liberty University does this kind of crap all the time. One of my friends takes a Harry Potter class at UC Berkeley; that's surely requires much more use of that thing called the brain than creationist apologetics! Berkeley has also offered a class analyzing the lyrics of hip hop artist Tupac Shakur. That would hold my attention really long (I'm a hip hop fan).
