Bristol Palin seeks full custody

An Alaska judge's ruling has revealed a heated legal custody battle between Sarah Palin's daughter and the father of Palin's grandson.

A November request by 18-year-old Bristol Palin keep the proceedings closed was denied Christmas Eve. Her Nov. 3 petition for sole custody and child support also seeks a visitation schedule for Levi Johnston, the father of 1-year-old Tripp.

Bristol says her ex-fiance has exercised "sporadic visitation rights."

The 19-year-old Johnston denies in court documents that he has avoided his responsibilities. He is seeking shared custody.

Bristol has no independent means of support. It takes tens of thousands of dollars to have a full out custody battle.

Sounds like Sarah is doing the battling -- she's the one with the money to fund a custody battle.

I'd do the same for my daughter if the father was unfit and she didn't have the financial means to fight it.

I imagine Johnston wants shared custody so he won't have to pay as much, or any, child support. But his record of visitation, whatever it may be, will hold great weight--moreso than a budding career in the soft core industry.

4. Did SP select the judge when she was

governor? The ridiculous thing is that the child has a right to have a relationship with his father, so long as there is no danger from drug, alcohol or sex abuse or similar types of problems. Of course, the court may require some sort of evaluation, parenting classes, supervised visits or other protective measures.
This is just another way of Sarah throwing her weight around to get what she wants, and to heck with everyone else.

By what standard do you decide that Levi is a "douchebag", and by contrast, Bristol is a more fit parent? He is the child's father. The law tends to give a lot of consideration to biological parents, and rightly so IMO. We have no idea what obstacles may have been placed between him and seeing his son.

I prefer to withhold judgment, and hope they can come to an amicable agreement. My inclination is they should have join custody, unless there is some real reason to believe him unfit. I have not seen any such evidence to date.

If the Palin's are seeking to totally exclude Johnston from his kids life (which wouldn't surprise me a bit), this is wrong. We all know Sarah Palin has the resources to wage a nice big long custody battle for her daughter (since she has her book deal). I hope he gets a fair shot in court, because if it goes down like I think it will, she's going to get full custody and he'll get minimal visitation if any.
