MrScorpio's Top Five 2009 News Stories That He Didn't Give A Fuck About
It's shit like this that makes me very blase' about people.

In no particular order:

- American dad gets his kid back from Brazil

- Octomom

- Levi Johnston's johnson

- Tiger Woods' manwhoring ways

- Balloon Boy

- Honorable Mention: The Fucking Gosselins

Please notice that none of these stories had anything to do with the fucked up economy, the fucked up wars, or the fucked up way health care legislation was passed.

The ONLY REASON shit likes this gets plastered all over the MSM, is because the MSM is nothing but a gaggle of cowardly corporate whores who want nothing more than to keep people in the dark.

May the MSM burn in Hell.

1. I am so with you
Especially the guy getting his son back from Brazil. Everyone seemed to realize that the others were devoid of any news content, but everyone took the boy from Brazil seriously. I couldn't effing believe it.

2. That famous "Elian Gonzalez" moment from SNL

Dana Carvey as Poppy Bush, Will Ferrell as Junior. Poppy's dispensing fatherly advice on how to pretend to be presidential.

George W. Bush: Is Microsoft a monopoly?

Former President George Bush: Possibly. Could be! Kind of!

George W. Bush: How about the environment?

Former President George Bush: Good.

George W. Bush: Good?

Former President George Bush: Just good.

George W. Bush: What about Social Security?

Former President George Bush: Should be very social.. and very secure. Slip-sliding. Slip-sliding, that's what I'm doing.

George W. Bush: Dad, you are awesome!

Former President George Bush: That's right. Now, you try, Governor Bush. Should we send the Gonzalez boy back to Cuba?

George W. Bush: (quick) I don't give a rat's ass!

Former President George Bush: (waving his arms) No! No, no, no! You can't say that! You should have said, "The little brown one - should he go or stay? Don't know. Can't say. Wouldn't be prudent!

George W. Bush: (depressed) You're the best. You know, Al Gore's gonna win. I'm not gonna do it!

17. The Elian incident had serious consequences in the US, though.
Support for Democrats among Cuban-Americans, which Bill Clinton had increased, cratered in its wake. Had it not happened, Al Gore would have gotten more than enough votes from Florida's Cuban-Americans alone that no amount of Republican chicanery in 2000 could have kept him out of the White House.

Prejean had a Social/ Political/ Fundie-Religious Hypocritical tinge to it
However, most of that was overshadowed by her blatant attention whoring

That's all the credit that I'll give that story

7. Yes indeed...
I think this might actually be the first time I've commented on any of those stories.
The M$M is truly despicable, and wants nothing more than a nation of zombie-consumer slaves for their super-rich overlords to exploit.

This country is going down, by design, and the braying heads of the M$M are leading the charge...

9. i live in the same town as balloon boy and the nonstop coverage made me batty
we gave that attention whore exactly what he wanted and it took weeks to be able to look at the paper without being bombarded with some absurd crap about them. then came all the court matters, complete with minute by minute tweets from the reporter. then came the stories as part of the end of the year wrap up.

not only that, but our freeper sheriff thought the situation made it acceptable to mislead the press during the investigation. how that man, or a good portion of the county's residents, can think he has any credibility or class is beyond me.

10. LUUUK! SHYNEE OBJECTZ!!
That's all "news" is anymore. If it's positive to anyone other than the wealthmongers, it ain't on there. If it's lame celebrity fluff - PAGE ONE.

11. I agree with the list you posted, MrS.
What passes for "news" these days are the kinds of things I used to only see on the cover of tabloid rags.

It cast into poignant relief how in the US the apparatus of the state will scarcely lift a finger for individual Americans with troubles abroad, but will step 'n' fetch it for corporate interests. Some things don't change much whether Democrats or Republicans are in. So I'm very glad Brazil has a fine independent judiciary.

My bread and butter

And yes, you are so right, they're around long past their expiration dates.

However, it does give a clue just how impotent the GOP actually is.

of people who don't want to know anything negative related to what is happening to the country - they thrive on things that are on your list. These people need to be blamed equally. It's not all the MSM's fault. They know what way-too-many of us want.

I have all kinds of friends? and acquaintenances cut me off when I try to educate them about the disastrous changes like the Obama Supreme Court petition and win on torture. Their heads are buried looking at and following the lurid crap of hand selected incidents of celebrities and crazies that the MSM's deliver.

I have formed entirely new opinions about those who cut me off and make comments such as "I find this conversation very depressing". (Meaning you are cut off - or = meaning I delight in gossip news and don't want to hear about the country)

16. That's when I'm so glad to live overseas
I'm not subjected to 24 hour news about stuff like Michael Jacksons death. Whenever a celeb dies I'm always so glad the only news I get is the 1/2 hour updates on the local radio.
