Liberal group pressures Feingold on health care in TV ad
U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold has come under fire from the liberal activist group Progressive Change Campaign Committee, which this week launched a $20,000 television ad campaign that takes the Middleton Democrat to task on health care reform.

In a 30-second spot set to air on broadcast television in the Green Bay, Madison and Milwaukee markets, PCCC urges Feingold to vote against any final health care bill that does not include a public insurance option. Feingold last week voted for a Senate bill that does not include a public insurance option despite the fact that he is a strong proponent of the proposal.

The ad, scheduled to run through New Year's weekend, features video clips of President Barack Obama explaining his support for the public insurance option. Upon the conclusion of the ad, the following written recommendation flashes on the TV screen: "Tell Russ Feingold: A bill without a public option is not change we can believe in."

regardless that they are the ones that we should be the most loyal to.
I realize that it is a political calculation.
So if Fiengold votes no on the HCR bill, he can be the one blamed
for dragging the party into the ditch.

7. That's part of the problem right there...

If our nation was governed by a king or a prince, we could talk about loyalty.

But Feingold is an elected legislator. We can like him, we can support him, we can phonebank for him, but the minute we start considering ourselves his "loyal subjects," we're in trouble.

The two or not the same.

One can be loyal to a spouse, a job, a ideal, an elected official, etc...

It has nothing to do with worshiping them, but rather supporting them when they need it.

I think Feingold has been loyal to his constituents, and I think returning the favor is apt.

We complain of how weak the Dems are all of the time for capitulating on their pronouncements,
and yet that is what is being asked of Sen. Feingold to do, as he has already signed on
to support the bill. He is being asked to betray his own chosen stance, when it comes to his own party, simply because some don't agree.......and yet we criticize the Blue Dogs for doing very much the same thing; betraying the party.

5. Good. But at this point, I'd rather see more about that damned "cadillac tax"

thing. I'm not saying we shouldn't still push for PO. I know people's hearts were in it all the way. But with limited resources on the left and an administration fighting us I'd rather see us pushing the House to stand up for their revenue funding and their community rating model. Passing a bill with a weak PO like the one in the House bill that allows the Senate bill to go through with their tax on middle class workers and their lack of cost controls would not help much.
