1. I hope better...

I expect to retire in about 5 years...so def looking forward to that!

2. At my age I do not expect to live another decade, so I checked "Much Worse"

Might as well be realistic about it.

3. Somewhat better. We've already begun to move away from unsustainable practices.

The Clinton Bush years were the most sickening, when CAFE standards were frozen and SUVs and McMansions began becoming popular.

4. Well personally I will be dead but I answered as a generality as somewhat better

I suspect we will have plenty of new problems to deal with as well as some of the current ones still with us, but humanity has demonstrated consistent progress in quality of life and longevity for thousands of years so I don't think the next ten will be any different.

I don't think the world will be better (or frankly, appreciably worse for the vast majority) BECAUSE I'll be dead. I just think the world will be somewhat better AND I'll be dead. There's not much of a connection between the two. Well except for me of course ;)

5. Although employment is one small fraction of life, I said better.

After being unemployed for many months, I start a new job on the 4th. :)

8. Hubby has a very secure job, so I expect things to be the same. But I do think the country is headed

towards the Great Depression 2 which will cause great misery and unrest, no doubt in my mind. :yoiks:

10. It's gotten a little better

each year since 1985, so probably won't change.

11. Much better. I am retired, doing what I want, will have the house free

and clear early in '10, and have better insurance. I believe we are going in the right direction and I think Obama is doing a very good job.

We need to vote more Dems into office.

16. Much better. I feel very strongly that I'm about to solve my

perpetual motion-powered jet boot problem. Once I've got those working, life will be amazing. And I'll be fighting crime with them, of course-- so your life will improve as well.

17. I said much better

Not because I think the economy or anything else will improve but instead because I am getting married and moving in with my soon to be husband and another room mate in a large house. 3 incomes instead of one,house large enough for us and all the children, a pool, an organic garden and most importantly, no longer having to carry the load alone.

So yes, for me, I see a better future.
