Question: When somebody has you on ignore, and you try to PM them
Do you get a message saying "this user does not wish to receive private messages"?

2. Not sure, but we can test it out
If you want, I can (temporarily!) put you on ignore and you can try sending me a message.

12. Cool - so I guess that answers the other question.
You could still see a message icon next to my name.

(And you are back off the list now, btw)

3. They can choose to ignore your posts or your PMs or both
Edited on Thu Dec-31-09 08:04 PM by proud2BlibKansan
But being on ignore doesn't always block PMs.

Also some choose no PMs from anyone.

6. I always thought if you were on ignore you couldn't see the envelope icon next to their name
Just like when a person chooses not to receive any. But maybe I'm wrong. Now I'd like to know what the deal is, too. :hi:

17. Which will then result in the poster in question putting YOU on ignore.
Is it really worth that to you?

19. Jeepers, nobody has a sense of humor this evening?
No, I wouldn't really do such a thing. I have enough fights of my own to be taking on somebody else's. Besides, I have a hunch the poster in question already has me on ignore. I didn't back down a while back when poster was dishing but not taking so well.

16. Yes but I believe
that you can also set your profile to not receive PMs from anyone, except admins. I think. I also think you can select the DUers you don't want to PM you, even if you don't have them on ignore. Again, I believe this is true. Don't know for sure, though.

18. I was pondering how a sort of "Ignore Amnesty" would be received on DU
.
.
.

Every New Year, all ignore selections would be deleted . .

you'd have to RE-ignore each year

sorta give the "offender" an annual chance to communicate without really pissing off the reader(s)

maybe a poll to find out?

I personally have no-one on ignore - i can do that without DU's help

- and my curiosity would always have me wondering anyhoo - - :silly:

25. I only have two people on my ignore list...
One's on full ignore, and the other is just blocked from sending me PMs. As both are extremely abusive and manic, it'd only take me a few seconds to swiftly put them both back on my ignore list, so my objection to resetting people's ignore lists is more due to thinking there's no reason to do it...

24. Some people have skin as thin as paper
Others, such as the one in question, simply can't stand it when they get caught in a lie.

26. Are you guys talking about someone in particular? I thought it was a general question...
Not too sure how much notice anyone should take of one person's reason for why another person has put them on ignore....

They demanded evidence of something, and I attempted to PM them the information due to the thread no longer being accessible.

28. Ah, I wouldn't take that personally...
I mean, there's one guy here at DU who once bragged he had hundreds of DUers on his ignore list, and I suspect that because I don't agree with him 100% on one issue, I'm on the list as well, though I've never checked to find out. I'd just wait until a thread on whatever issue it was you were talking about comes up again and post the information. If not, don't worry about it...
