Burned Out?
Burn out is the worst thing to see. One after another fiery liberal that was gonna save the world, has gone down in flames.

The weight off the world lies heavily on all long time activist's shoulders.
Once one becomes involved and begins studying the facts of the way things are and how they work, the weight on their shoulders doth grow in equilibrium.

Long time activists don't burn out. They don't tilt at windmills. They come to understand that solid positive results from actions will almost always take years to come to fruition.

It takes patience to keep from burning out.

Happy New Year and keep the fires burning fellow Duers!!

3. When I was young I use to just vote democrat without even really putting much research into my vote
Edited on Thu Dec-31-09 09:59 PM by liberal_at_heart
I figured the democrats fit my beliefs better than the republicans so that was the way to go. I was an apathetic, uninformed voter. Now that I don't really trust either party I put much more research into my vote. Now I am a passionate, informed voter and I am far from burnt out.

4. No. They learn that things have to get really shitty before most people give a shit
enough to maybe DO something. Heed the warnings ahead of time, prevent the debacle? Nope. Wait for the shit to hit the fan.

19. There are more important things in my life then who's in the oval office.
But considering what we started with and what we're finishing with, that's damn good too.

Sucks to be a hater.

16. Abuse is tiresome, but we all have to stay true to the Golden Rule.
It's not even a passing thought in the corporate republican teabag world.

25. It's reasonable to expect that we'll never see our goal and
also reasonable to never give up. It's about process not product. Besides, knowing much more about
how the system works is its own reward.

Happy New Year!!!!
