Will someone please explain to me how

an animated film can have "stars" like George Clooney, Meryl Streep, and Bill Murray? First of all,THEY'RE NOT ON THE FRIGGING SCREEN and second, the voices are so electronically manipulated that you or I could do the same job for half(!) of what these stars are paid.

I know Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Don Rickles and others were in Toy Story, and their voices were great. And the cartoon was terrific. But it didn't "Star" them as 'film'...this is film, not radio.

I know I know: it's how these things are sold. But it's disingenuous. Sorry if I offended anyone but I'm cranky because the first thing I saw this New Year was an e-mail emergency which I have to go take care of, and fight my way downtown with the Mummers Parade going on....maybe someone will pee on my leg like they did the LAST time I stopped by the parade to see them 'strut'.

3. Even by your own limited definition of "stars"...they ARE

You recognized and enjoyed the performance of them, but most people wouldn't be so impressed if the "star" was PCIntern.

I only recognized them because they were all over the marquee. They're not "IN" the movie...you look at the screen and you see a drawing...not Bill Murray. Or Meryl Streep, or Tom Hanks. there is no nuance of THEIR expression, there is no beauty or handsomeness, or facial recognition. Many of these people 'made it' due to the overall package...they wouldn't necessarily have succeeded in old-time radio. If you want to say, starring the VOICES of these people, that's another thing.

Just saying that the collars don't match the cuffs...

6. Animation is pretty darn hard to read for. Otherwise, every mom would have an instant job.

I know I don't do that good of a job of stories I've read over and over.. and then to mesh it all together in the studio.. most of the time not together.. and to contain the emotion of the drawn characters.. Its not easy.. Many stars have said it was one of their hardest gigs.

7. I didn't say it wasn't hard...

I said, that the implication that someone is starring in a role which is animated is FOXNEWS-ian, and people are willing to accept all kinds of disingenuous statements as facts. I remember going to see one of those animated features in the 80's, I can't recall the title, but it was a series of vignettes around this science fiction story about an evil life-force which inhabited creatures. It was actually pretty good, and when it started, someone in the audience said: this is a fucking cartoon? We (almost) all knew that it was, and laughed, but only at the end did the credits for the voices, some of whom were pretty significant, come on. It had not been billed as 'starring' anyone...

Of course, almost no one went to see the movie, so the Suits learned their lesson...
