Driving through town, I see a crowd of people standing by the road
so I pulled over and got out of the car. A large moose had fallen through the ice in the river. Poor guy was desperately trying to get out but obviously couldn't. 5 big guys managed to get ropes under his forelegs and tried pulling him out. Didn't work so someone went and got a tractor and they pulled the big fellow out of the river. By then he'd been in the water for about 45 minutes. At first he couldn't stand up. We got blankets and rubbed him down. Finally he got to his feet. Looks like he'll be OK.

All's well that ends well.

59. True. And true!
A big "thank you" to all who risked their lives to save that helpless, magnificent creature. The year just started, and good karma already is flowing your way.

As for Sarah, set aside for a moment how she treats wildlife. Just look at how she treats the humans who actually like her.

45. Oh Cali, there is nothing like a rescued
animal in distress to bring out the kindness in most people on a cold New Years day.

My kids say that I am hard as nails anymore, but I am mostly just numb from life experiences. I don't cry over personal things but tell me about an animal in trouble or one that suffered and I cry. Just something about animals and children, we think of them as innocence in itself, and many of us feel differently about them. O8)

84. that happened in the river right here in town a few years ago and he
was pulled out exhausted. You see the clip sometimes on television. This is a good story. Thank you for one that ends well. Damned moose aren't afraid of anything. that is one of their multi-million charms for me.

People like you, who take time and risks to help an animal in distress, renew my faith in humankind - and that is quite a feat in this day and age. Thank You!

87. Another moose story with a (mostly) happy ending.
I hit a moose in New Hampshire, near the VT MA border. I had just put new tires on the car so I swerved hard and only grazed the animal as it jumped out of the woods to cross the road. I think the moose survived and obviously I survived. The entire right side of my Integra, front fender, A, B & C-pillars and rear quarter panels were banged up. USAA would not total this 210,000 mile vehicle.

88. It's a common site in Canada to see a bloated floating moose
in the water. Moose get use to walking across the ice during the cold winter months. Then when spring comes, they fall through ice and many don't make it.

91. thanks for the good feeling ............
I am going to get a couple of weeks of the "warm and fuzzies" out of this story. Kind of helps me throw aside the bullshit this American life constantly throws at its citizens these days.

Something is wrong, people, and the sooner wise and thinking heads rise up and demand changes, the longer we will stave off becoming the 2nd "Roman Empire" to disappear.

Please, no "morans" (republics for those of you who have been living in a hole in the ground for way too long).

Peace.
