Congress has the authority to set the tone and to set the direction of policymaking in Washington.
Congress has the authority to guide the President and to reign in presidential powers.
Congress has the ability to stop the Afghan war.
Congress has the ability to bring us Single Payer.
Congress has the ability to steer the President to a more progressive platform.
We can turn Congress more progressive by winning the upcoming Democratic primaries. I haven't fully given up on President Obama yet. I still hold out hope of strong progressive wins in the 2010 election and want to see how Obama presides if a more progressive congress is elected.
A Congress that will guide him to a better path for America to follow.
Prez Obama won the '08 election and deserves every day of his remaining presidency. So many of us invested so much in his candidacy. Time, volunteering, door knocking, phone calling, cash donations from people that ate mac-n-cheese to be able to donate $5.
So many of us invested too much to bail on him now. Despite anger at many of his policies, I'm still on board.
Folks, Barack Obama is a good man in a fukt situation. The President needs our help.
Progressives, we can help him by electing a more progressive congress. It'll be a hard fight.
The tough scrappiness of every progressive I know relishes that fight.
Get involved and support progressive Democratic candidates.
Join the fight. Fight the good fight.
BRING IT ON!
