NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Some Naperville residents were concerned this week when they found the appparently mutilated carcasses of Canada geese lying near local roadways.

But the Illinois Department of Natural Resources said Wednesday the geese were the victims of inconsiderate hunters -- not aliens or Satanists.

Conservation Police Officer Mike Delis said geese are in season in northeastern Illinois through Jan. 9

Eleven goose carcasses were found in Naperville on Monday and Tuesday -- all missing their breast portions. Delis said the breast is the part the goose most people like to eat, and what he called "breasting out" is a common hunting practice.

As a matter of fact, it's against #10 of the 11 rules of the Earth. Canadian Geese are magnificent creatures.
