1. the state of california tagged me for $90 in taxes.
If you use a credit card, and if the companies you do business with provide a copy of your purchases, they got you.

The irritating part is that they sent me a BLANK form and told me to pay.. NO IDEA WHAT I OWED.

I tossed it into the trash & waited til I heard from them again.

Finally I got another one marked DELINQUENT.. but this one had a phone number.

I managed to talk to a human, and asked them how on earth I was expected to pay them , when I had NO idea what I owed..

Amazingly, she came up with a number in a hurry, and I wrote them their damned check..

This is going to kill internet sales if you cannot use a credit card, and if you cannot trust the people you buy from. If they are being forced to turn over their sales lists, not only do you owe taxes, but somewhere there's a complied list of what you bought and when..

5. I got a free sample (carton) of cigarettes from someplace...the state sent me a bill
for 33.00 for taxes. I threw it away. I'll go to jail before I'll pay the bastards one cent. (How much would THAT cost them?)
:grr:

2. I know, what's weird is Mr. Macaca was one of the greatest supporters...
of NOT taxing the internet. The act he authored is coming up for renewal this year, I hope to hell those in Congress do something about it.

The wonder of the internet has been how easy it is to set up a business and pursue new ideas, that'll die if these people get their way.

4. That and the enroachment of copyWRONG legislation like the DMCA
Jackbooted thugs at the RIAA and Microsoft have been given too much leeway with the DMCA. Having sales taxes is just another step to taking over the internet.
