Cablevision.

Cablevision and Scripps (Foodtv & HGTV) have ended their relationship and I'm furious! Foodtv is one of my favorite channels.

I just called Cablevision and they are being deluged with complaints. Good!

1. Keep calling and complaining, and encourage others to do it as well.

After the Sirius/XM merger, the new company dropped some channels without notice. They received so many complaints, that within a month they announced they were bringing a couple of them back due to customer input.

So, the people do still have the power to make corporations do the right thing. It just takes a lot of people getting involved. Good luck to you, HGTV is really awful today compared to what it was a few years ago. All the "first time home buyer" shows and less emphasis on gardening.

I used to always watch the guy in Florida who did landscaping. He always emphasized doing swoopies and not having everything at right angles. That's the way we did our yard, and it turned out great. I think his name was Alan something. HGTV got rid of him and things started going downhill. Now it's all about real estate and first time home buyers. Enough!

I've only watched it once. I have money (thank goodness) to purchase food but not for redoing my home! lol!

9. I remember that guy...

from Florida, I loved his show. We also copied his design methods in our yard and it turnred out great. I saw him one time on Public Television and can't find him anymore.

I don't usually watch this, but have it DVR'd just to see Michelle.

I love Ann Burrell (sp?). I used to enjoy watching her as Mario's sous chef during iron chef competitions, and was so happy when she got her own show.

Hopefully one or both shows will be put up on the channel site, or maybe someone will sneak them onto youtube.

4. I know I'd have a fit

I have to get my fill of Paula, Ina, Sandra, Tyler and all the rest. When I am feeling low, because of my recent operation, I just switch to Food TV and watch..

5. I told them that if this horse hockey continues and my bill goes up one cent

I will switch to Direct TV. Actually, with what cable costs me (WITHOUT ANY premium channels) I may still switch. (No FIOS here).

7. When I called today I told them that I've been with them for well over 20 years and I'm

considering to switching to satellite tv. And yes, no FIOS where I am too.

Right now, between cable and internet, our bill is about $150 a month, which is insane. We have HBO and HBO on demand and 3 boxes. Two of our tvs are on basic cable, and they took away MSNBC and CSpan, which pissed me off too...but taking away my Food Network is over the top!!!!

10. The ONLY problem I have with Direct is the 24 month requirement

because I plan on moving into a better apartment complex this year and I hate complications if I can then get FIOS.

11. I didn't realize that you needed a contract with Direct. FIOS requires a contract too.

In fact, that's one Cablevision's anti-FIOS ads selling points.

13. FIOS is a fiberoptic service provided by Verizon. So instead of receiving signals through

cable, you receive it through telephone lines. They provide tv, internet and phone service. Not all areas can receive it due to either the wires haven't been upgraded yet, or if you are too far away from a Verizon station.
