2. Why would he?
If he can pass a center-right health reform and still ride safely in the polls, what reasoning would he have to move leftward?

37. he promised to uphold the constitution. and got lots of applause when he said it
because he was talking about stopping the policies of Bush and Cheney.

but torture is still "legal."

not an easy one to move the fuck on from.

pretty big one.

same thing with the give away to big pharma and the insurance cos on the backs of the middle class. same thing with the wall street giveaway - both with no controls.

while, at the same time, coming down hard on the auto industry and its union employees. they actually made a freakin' product, not just parcel up bullshit paper and tell the world it's gold.

but the truth is, I am moving the fuck on.

because I recognize that Obama is not walking the walk.

When the polls are looking bad he'll give a series of left leaning speeches.
They'll be like his support for the Public Option that can be denied if he wants later.

41. Obama is a moderate with a tendency to lean left at times.
This is what he has always been and it astounds me that there are those here who thought he would be the liberal savior. If you listened to his campaign speeches or read "The Audacity of Hope" his political leanings are very obvious. For those who believe he is right center then just watch who he nominates for Supreme Court vacancies and stop nitpicking and look at the big picture when it comes to his policy decisions. Obama is not right center, never has been and will likely never be.

47. I'll go with my heart instead of my head on this one
I'll go out on a limb and say I think he might. Enough Democratic insiders that get to talk to him realize
that every time he extends a hand to the opposition, it gets bitten. At some point, he either stops extending
that hand or starts losing fingers. I'm hoping he's bright enough to figure that out, even if Rahm Emmanuel
is not.

Edited on Sun Jan-03-10 12:16 PM by Toasterlad
He's got his polls which supposedly prove that Democrats are overjoyed with him, everyone knows the Republicans are going to bitch at him no matter what, and nobody gives a shit what independents think until it's election time.

No one is holding Obama accountable for selling out the country, so why should he change his corporatist agenda?
