Marvel Shareholders Approve Disney Buyout
Marvel Shareholders Approve Disney Buyout

NEW YORK (AP) -- Shareholders of Marvel Entertainment, home of Spider-Man and the Hulk, have approved the company's acquisition by Disney, as expected.

The shareholders voted at a special meeting Thursday morning.

The 70-year-old comic-book company says the $4.3 billion acquisition will close at the end of the day.

With the deal, The Walt Disney Co. gets Marvel Entertainment Inc.'s stable of more than 5,000 characters. Most of them are obscure, but several have been the basis for blockbuster movies in recent years.

1. I assume, and sincerely hope, that this won't affect day to day operations at Marvel
'cause the Marvel Universe has kicked ass these last few years.

Yeah, that's right. I'm a comic book nerd.

2. I can only assume that Marvel will be harmed by the acquisition.
Any Disney influence greater than zero must induce some level of bland suckage.

Perhaps that influence will be small, and gradual.

8. I hope Stan Lee doesn't live to see his characters polluted
Although, he'd probably make a few sarcastic and funny remarks about it and move on. Stan's now 87, and he's
still so busy with the projects going on with his current company out in L.A. that he couldn't be bothered
to take the time to yell and scream about it. He's having so much fun doing what he's doing now, it's not like
him to want to bother, although, knowing him as I do, he'd make them pick up the tab if they ask him out to lunch.
