Anyone want to petition for a Government Accountability Forum
A forum for constructive criticism of policies without the flame bait so intelligent conversations can be held without the name calling?

3. It won't work.

there is a class of so called "debunkers", contrarians and status quoers who try to derail any sort of activism fomented on DU.

Yeah, I know my post is ironic. :D

4. They won't be allowed to post there after violating the rules
If they can debunk a criticism logically than they are welcome, but if they post talking points or other nonsense, than they would have their posting ability revoked.

Is that allowed?

6. Rainbows and Unicorns and everything happy
Just looking for a place to discuss with the people I like, that won't have coordinated nasty things thrown into the mix.

12. Sounds good to me.
I just poked around the existing topic forums & groups and didn't see anything like you propose. I think a mission statement needs to get written first for a group.

7. Sure, that's what DU used to be, pretty much. This will require a mod with good judgment

and a firm hand.

How about 10 day "suspensions" for the first several violations of the guidelines instead of permanent banishment? Some will need practice to break old habits.

8. I'm fine with whatever the consensus is on rules
I think we should get the forum first and than make rules on tolerated behavior.

9. Sounds entirely reasonable. But, a word of caution is in order:
you DO realize this approach could spread throughout the entire forum, right?

10. Fine by me
Frankly a stricter hand on here when things devolve into pissing contest would honestly make me happy. I have to take the tone I do on here at times to prevent people who don't like me personally to back off.

13. Not sure. There is always the danger of it mutating into a dungeon
w/ crucial issues banished from GD, editorials, etc. What is more central to left of center ideology than responsive gov't.? Actually editorials is a good place to post if you don't want a bunch of kneejerk negative responses (unless you're posting something entirely original).
