Pop Quiz: 1) Who is behind Rapiscan? 2) Who is behind ProVision?
These are the perverted full-body scanning machines coming to an airport near you, compliments of the Undy-Bomber.

1. Oh crap.
I thought you had the answer. I was gonna guess Halliburton or Brown and Root or Dick Cheney personally.

3. I'll bite . . .
1) OSI Systems, Inc.
2) L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems, Inc.

Why are these companies mind-blowing? (Serious, not snarky - I looked to see if they have nefarious connections and can't find the information).

6. Not snarky but if you don't know why
L-3 Communications being behind ProVision is mind-blowing, you'll have to do some research. They have their dirtly little hands in all sorts of stuff and are the low-flying equivalent of a Haliburton or KBR in the realm of government contractors.

As for OSI, well...

17. L-3 - Paul Cerjan - Abu Ghraib - Titan - Pat Robertson's Regent Univsersity - Halliburton
Edited on Sun Jan-03-10 03:04 PM by Jamastiene
L-3 were placed under investigation for hiding electronics failures that most likely caused casualties in our Special Forces and Air Force.

The third L is the Lehman Brothers who negotiated the L-3 Intelligence projects...and they are part of the sub-prime mortgage lending banking bankruptcy fiasco too.

AND...

MUCH MUCH MORE...

5. Rapiscan is the more perverted of the two,
because it uses x-rays. I doubt that the claims of tiny doses are true. (Consider the source.)

The L-3 ProVision machine uses millimeter waves, which can't hurt you.

Also, during our dying-too-early illnesses, Big Pharma makes out.

But it's mainly to make rich people who invest in it richer. Also, it instills fear which supports war which makes rich people richer.

Have you found something especially shocking that a quick Google search wouldn't reveal? You're really going to have to elaborate if you want me to get excited.

Edited on Sun Jan-03-10 02:11 PM by Edweird
There may be a few extremely lonely souls that find the images scintillating, but I bet their numbers could be counted on one hand.

I mean, really.

25. They don't turn you on, they don't turn me on...
but Rule 34 says they turn someone on...

I mean, so many people get aroused just with the idea of peephole shows and such.

The backscatter X-ray machine is like the ultimate peephole.

I wonder if the TSA's standard issue equipment includes tissues and KY?

30. Yes.
Edited on Sun Jan-03-10 08:50 PM by Edweird
I even covered that in one of my responses. Somebody will find it titillating (snicker). But, my claim is that they aren't *perverted*. The images are essentially medical in nature.
(Yes, I know all about the rubber nurses and medical fetishes. That isn't the case here.)

Somewhat revealing? Yes. Exciting to some lonely heart? Possibly. Perverted? In my professional opinion, no.

32. My concern isn't about perversion per-se.
As far as I'm concerned, as long as your activities involve purely consenting adults, you can get as freaky as you want.

My concern is that people who didn't sign up for that sort of thing may become unwitting objects of sexual gratification (this includes children). These people are just trying to get on a plane so they can go from Point A to Point B. Having pictures of them minus their clothing distributed to persons unknown for sexual gratification isn't in their travel plans.

It's the lack of consent I'm concerned about. Sure, today, they give you the choice between the digital strip search and an old-fashioned pat-down, but that may not always be the case. This is an issue of abuse, and I contend it's not a matter of if, but when these machines will be abused...

34. I freely admit that I am seriously 'desensitized' and that I am far outside the mainstream.
That being said, I think 'sexual gratification' is a non-issue. I think, correction - I KNOW - that you have more to worry about abuse wise from the 'pat down' than from a grainy low res gray scale image. I just don't see it. There is a whole internet of real porn available for free. It just doesn't seem like that big of deal.

Even then, the grainy grayscale images are useless. "oooh wait.. is that a nipple?" You can download real porn on your phone.

I know that Michael Chertoff's consulting firm is shilling for Rapiscan, and I heard that Tom Ridge was also shilling for electronic strip search machines, so in his case, I made an educated guess...
